The guards drag Cecilia out of the garden and all Cecilia could do was stare at the woman she now knew as Lady Gale waved at her.
“Please, please, I didn’t know. I was tricked,” Cecilia pleaded as she was dragged out into the empty hall. Her head snapped to the side when one of the guards slapped her hard across the face.
“Shut up, filth. Do you think we believe you? Be thankful our Lady showed compassion,” Cedrick sneered.
Cecilia could feel blood trickling from her nose. She snorted to keep it from rolling free and one of the guards grabbed her by the throat.
