Titus POV I sit on the edge of the bed watching my mate. She looks peaceful with her hair splayed on the pillow. I don't know why she passed out, but the fear I smelt could not be denied. I knew as soon as I entered the pack house she was there. The smell of apple pie and whipped cream invaded my nose. I had to find her. When I entered the kitchen, I saw her with back towards me. She was stiff standing there when she faced me. Fear emanated from her. When the Alphas Son arrived, followed by the Alpha, I felt her tense. I was pissed when he tried offering me another omega when I had already asked for Josina. When she fainted, I wasn't sure what happened. When I caught her and carried her to a room, that was when I smelt the extra smell. Wolfbane. Why would this sweet, beautiful woman, my mate, have Wolfbane in her system? I was interrupted by a knock on the door, I knew it was my Beta. “My King? What is going on?” My Beta, Rig, asked. “Is she your…?” “Yes, she's my mate. I don't feel her wolf yet, even though she said she is 18.” I glanced at him. “There's something going on in this pack. She's scared. The fear rolled off her in waves.” Rig ran his hand through his hair, “You want me to ask around, I mean about her?” He asked me, and I could hear the anger laced in his question. “No, not yet. I want to wait for her to wake up.” I said, “We're not staying now. We'll leave when she wakes up.” “Yes Alpha.” Rig replied. Turning to leave. “I need you to let the palace doctor know we'll be arriving with her and to be prepared for us” I stated. Rig looked at me, questions brewing in his eyes. “My King?” I looked away from my mate, anger coursing through me. “I also smell wolfbane in her.” Rig raised an eyebrow at me, “Why would they poison her?” I looked away, my eyes resting on my beautiful mate. “I don't know, but I will find out.” “I will let the doctor know. Let me know when you're ready to leave, I'll have the warriors get the car.” Rig said and left the room. “What have you been through, my little mate?” I whispered. —------ Josina pov I'm sitting in a field of wildflowers. ‘How did I get here?’ I wondered. Nervously, I glance around, I don't recognize this place. “Hello my child.” A female voice says. Hurriedly, I get to my feet, unsure where, or from whom, the voice belongs to. “Relax my child. I won't hurt you. I brought you here to talk.” “Who are you? Why can't I see you?” I asked, still looking around me. “Why did you bring me here? Am I dead?” The female voice chuckled, “No my child, you are not dead. The time has come for you to follow your path.” “What path?” Confusion etched in my voice. “All will be revealed when you are ready. I brought you here because I need you to understand that your path is very special.” Suddenly, a beautiful woman stands in front of me. Her face ethereal, her white gown flowing with a breeze I can't feel. Realization hits me, “Are you the moon goddess?” I asked her. A bright smile appears, “Yes my child. I know that you have suffered, and each of my children is given free will to make choices. Most are good, but unfortunately, some are not.” “What am I supposed to do?” I ask, remembering she said my path. “Wake up, follow your heart. In time, you will understand everything. I trust that you will succeed. Seek the truth.” “Truth? What is the truth?” I asked. “Unfortunately, my child, I can only say so much. It is up to you to follow your path. Just know that not everything you hear is the truth. It is up to you to discover it.” Suddenly everything went black. I closed my eyes and opened them to find the most beautiful man sitting next to me. I feel a pull towards him as he stares at me. Is he my mate? I don't have my wolf yet, but I'm almost certain he is my mate. “Why hello beautiful!” He says, his voice thrums through me, sending shivers through my body. Heat pools between my legs. Before I can respond and voice in my head says, ‘Well, is our mate a hunk or what?’ Startled, I looked around the room, “What's wrong?” The man asks, then I remember. This is the Alpha King. I cover my mouth. This can't be true. ‘Oh it's true, I can feel his wolf. He agrees.’ The voice in my head states. ‘Hi Josina, I'm Willow, your wolf.’
