***** When Nora woke, she didn’t move immediately because her body was tight and sore. The surface beneath her felt soft like a bed but it didn’t smell familiar and opening her eyes made it clear that she was not in the palace or at home. The room was barely lit by warm, dim light and gave off the faint scent of fire. Candles? Nora didn’t dare move to look around as her mind played over the last events it could remember.
