The Friends Who Never Left

A New Friend

It was a new day, and David, Michael, and Olivia had already started working on how they wanted the session to be.

After class that day, they went to the school library to read what had been taught earlier in class that day. The three friends sat together, going through their notes and helping one another understand the difficult parts.

After reading for a while, Michael closed his book.

“I want to go to the restroom,” Michael said, and he left.

As he was coming out of the restroom, he saw Sophia, who was among the new students that had been admitted into the school.

Sophia was a very calm and quiet girl who found it hard to make friends. She stood alone, looking around the school as if she was trying to figure out where to go.

Michael noticed that she looked a little confused, so he decided to walk up to her.

“Hey, I'm Michael. And you?” Michael asked.

“I'm Sophia,” she responded.

“What are you doing here all alone?” Michael asked.

“I wanted to go around the school, but I am confused,” Sophia answered.

Michael smiled.

“Don't worry. I can help you.”

He began showing her the school environment and telling her about the different places around the school. He told her about his friends, David and Olivia, and how they had been friends for four years.

He even showed her their favourite place, which was under the mango tree. He explained that they often sat there because of the cool breeze and the shade from the broad leaves.

“This is where my friends and I usually spend time together,” Michael said.

Sophia looked around and smiled.

Michael also showed her the library.

“This is our library. My friends are inside right now,” he said.

After showing her around, Michael looked at Sophia.

“Do you want to come and see my friends?” Michael asked.

“No, Michael,” Sophia said.

“They are really fun to be with,” Michael said.

“Not today, Michael. Maybe tomorrow,” Sophia replied.

Sophia was a bit shy about meeting Michael's friends. She wasn't used to making friends easily, and she wasn't sure how they would react to her.

Michael understood.

“Okay, that's fine. Maybe tomorrow,” he said with a smile.

“Thank you for showing me around,” Sophia said.

“You're welcome,” Michael replied.

Sophia said goodbye and left.

Michael went back to meet his friends in the library. When he returned, David looked up from his book.

“You took quite a while. Where were you?” David asked.

“I met one of the new students,” Michael replied.

Olivia became curious.

“Really? Who?”

“Her name is Sophia. She was trying to find her way around the school, so I helped her.”

“Did you bring her?” Olivia asked.

“No. She was shy about meeting you guys. She said maybe tomorrow.”

David smiled.

“Then tomorrow, we will meet her.”

Michael nodded.
