I got off the tourist bus that had stopped at the entrance of a town called Mystic town. My heart was still pounding from my escape. I had gotten away from Maxwell, away from the nightmare of being kidnapped, and away from the life, that seemed to most women, being remarried to a perfect man.
But as I stared down at the busy road with many foreign tourists, my chest tightened with a different kind of uncertainty.
Returning to Skylar, to my marriage, would have been a sensible and obvious choice. But something inside of me resisted it. It was not just the incident of him seen with another sexy woman that had troubled me. Well, his infidelity with another woman was something I had expected it to happen. though not that soon. And definitely not with Madeline!
