THEE SHATTERED ILLUSION Sophia hummed cheerfully as she took her bath, Adrian was going to be back soon, she wanted to look good for him. It seemed like almost a dream that six months ago she had agreed to be his temporary wife. "Okay, what should I wear today" she mused as she admired her image in the mirror, a giddy smile plastered on her face as she remembered the numerous nights Adrian had claimed and used her body, he had turned her world around with the power of his manliness and his touch. Suddenly, she froze, she realized to her alarm that she was falling in love with him. This wasn't in the contract, this whole thing was meant to be a fling, a temporary thing, but her heart was going in a different direction, feelings she had never felt for other men were blossoming fiercely in her. She had to reign it in or it might ruin everything. Quickly, she dressed in a short red gown with transparent flower designs, the gown hugged her body showing her curves. Her phone rang suddenly, it was Adrian, she smiled as she answered. "Hey" "Hi" his voice sounded strangely cold and distant. She frowned, "Is everything alright? You don't sound like...you". "Everything is fine, Sophia" "Okay" she breathed out in relief, "so what's up?" "Sophia, I want a divorce" She thought she didn't hear him well, "Huh?" "I said I want a divorce" She was quiet for a while then she asked him slowly, "Why? What changed your mind? I still have six more months in the contract" "Yes, I know." he answered, "But I realized that I'm tired of you and I want something different" "Tired of me?" she blinked in confusion, "...but I'm only here to satisfy you with s*x. Are you saying you are tired of having s*x with me?" "Yeah, that is the point Sophia, I am tired of having s*x with you. I want...no I need something or someone more exciting and daring and just...different." she didn't say anything so he continued, "...but don't worry, I will pay you handsomely as promised. But I need you to leave by tomorrow morning, someone will bring you the divorce papers. Sign them okay?" "Why can't I leave tonight?" He took a deep breath, "I still need you for tonight. You still want my hands on you, don't you? You will receive the money into your account soon. Bye." He hung up. She stared quietly at the phone for a long while, an alert pinged on her phone, a credit alert of ten million dollars shone on the screen, a knock on the door startled her, and a young man stood with a document at the door. "Hello ma'am. Please sign this document. Mr Calloway requested that I bring it back to him" "Alright" she signed the document and watched as the young man left. She went back to the bedroom and stood in a daze for a while, tears formed in her eyes and rolled down her cheeks. She crumpled to the floor and burst out sobbing, her body shook as she covered her face sobbing loudly, her sobs were like the wails of a broken woman. It took a few minutes for her to calm down and stand up wearily. She went into the bathroom and washed her face then she trotted to the wardrobe and packed all her clothes into a big, black suitcase. When she was done she pulled off the red gown and dressed in a pair of jeans, black long sleeved shirt and a pair of black sneakers. She dragged her suitcase to the door, suddenly she remembered something and ran to the bedside table and picked up a card, quickly she transferred half of the money he transferred to her and sent it back into his account. She wrote a quick message on a paper. "I DON'T DESERVE THE REMAINING PAYMENT. BYE" She didn't feel the need to claim something she didn't work for, since she only stayed six months, five million dollars was more than enough payment and it was perfect to leave and start a new life. "I can't believe you still expect me to stay the night after you just broke my heart" she whispered, tears threatening to fall once again. She bit her lips as she regarded the bed she had grown comfortable in, the bed that she had experienced multiple orgarsms on, orgarsms she was sure she will never have again in the future. She inhaled and exhaled slowly, with a determined look, she headed out. "Let's go," she muttered to herself. ******************************** She finally settled in California, she had gotten a nice apartment for a good price and was now resting on her couch because she felt a bit tired. Lately, she had been experiencing bouts of dizzy spells, fever and nausea. She had to go see the doctor she resolved just before she fell asleep. "Miss Sophia Westwood. It is my pleasure to announce to you that you are pregnant,' the middle aged doctor told her with a smile on her face. "Congratulations" "What?" Sophia gawked at her in shock, the paper in her hands told her the same thing the doctor just said, she was three weeks pregnant. "How is this possible? I thought we were careful?" She asked doubtful. "Well not careful enough" the doctor answered with a good natured smile. "Thank you" Sophia smiled weakly at her, the doctor nodded. "You are welcome. Make sure to take care of yourself and the baby" "Alright" She stood outside the hospital, the pregnancy report still in her hands, her eyes were filled with uncertainty, she didn't know if she could raise the child. "I don't know if I'm cut off for being a mother, I mean, I know next to nothing about raising a child. And worse still, the child will only remind me of him." An idea struck her, why doesn't she let him know. "It's his child anyway, he has to know" she muttered worriedly as she dialed his number, it rang for a few seconds, her heart was beating fast as she waited for him to pick up, then he picked, a voice came from the other end of the line. "Hello”
