Jade: Marcus's firm is doing a rooftop thing Friday. Client appreciation event. His partners invited the whole family basically. You're on the list — Davis put you on it before anyone could think too hard about whether that was awkward. Are you coming?
I read it Thursday morning at the Cobble Hill counter while the morning rush was doing its thing around me.
My first instinct was no.
My second instinct was that no was the easy option and I had been making the easy option for six weeks and the easy option was starting to feel like its own kind of hiding.
Ava: What time?
Jade: Seven. Rooftop bar in the Meatpacking District. It's actually a good venue.
