Forgive me, my dear husband Erich Henrik Hubert, for I have failed you. I have failed to keep our Hubert Opera House standing and I have lost my status to someone who appeals more to our audience than we do anymore. Forgive me, for I have failed to uphold your legacy, your name, and your honour. I have failed to win this competition, and failed to bring you pride. It’s the end of it all, but I shall always remember you deep in my heart -

Chapter 14

Did I just mention that I would never dream of hearing Robbert say he would take a bullet for me? Well, something I never even THOUGHT would happen in this very same dimension just happened tonight: Mrs. Hubert, or just MARIA (lovely name!) as I shall refer her as from now on, has offered me to be her business partner to help bring the HOH back to its former state of glory.

Yes. My big dream all this time has FINALLY COME TRUE! Oh, I love you so much, Maria. I love you so much, my performers. I love you so much, OUR performers. Maria & I will be working together side-by-side, a complementary pair from now on, and both our orchestras will combine to make one BIG orchestra. Oh, Maria. It took you seeing I & my team’s performance plus the looong standing ovation (15 minutes, someone counted) and the audience’s enthusiasm towards us to convince you that we really are something, right? Haha.Better late than never. And I agree with you. The late Mr. Hubert would probably be laughing at our unlikely friendship and partnership in the heavens somewhere. I’m so glad to have known you and entered your life, even if not as a pleasant thing at first!

I’ve always known you had a heart, Maria. From how you defended your husband’s name from modernism and put me behind you when Robbert was held hostage, you CARED. You had always known how to love, even though you never showed it to most people.

Thanks for letting me into your heart. It’s a warm place full of lovely, beautiful flowers - a lush garden full of secrets that I have yet to uncover.

Looking forward to collaborating with you and achieving our goals together! A bright future is ahead of us. One thing I learned for sure from this whole story is that whatever your age, history, principles and values you’ve been holding in the past, you have the right to make a fresh start at ANY time.
