Oh my gosh! The Annual Classical Orchestra Competition is coming up and my fellow musician-friends of mine just can’t wait to participate in it! Of course, it’s hard to keep track of almost 200 people in your orchestra now, let alone be friends with them. But when we are off-duty, I treat each and every one of them the same - as friends - like I do with my first 10 members I graduated with. Young or old (yes, I have members who are more advanced in age, too!), old or new, West German or otherwise, whatever they can do, wherever they came from.
The competition will be held in the HOH back in Berlin. I know Mrs. Hubert banned me from ever going back there the first time we met, and I haven’t returned ever since. But she has a nice security guard, though. I remember him.Very friendly, very gentlemanly. He may have thrown me out (not literally) the last time, but he was only acting upon Mrs. Hubert’s orders, and he didn’t really mean any harm to me or my friends. He even wished me good luck before he closed the gate and left us out alone at the HOH. Mrs. Hubert really does have some nice employees. I’m sure this guard will let my orchestra and I in again as soon as he sees us back and bigger than we used to be, regardless of what his boss said. All I have to do is be nice to him and do some clever bargaining if i must. Damian and Josiah, two of my fellow graduates, are very good at bargaining and negotiating. I’ll let them ride at front of the carriage when we take off to Berlin.
Oh, and, if he doesn’t let us in, oh well. Don’t know. If you don’t try, they say. Besides, Berlin is not far from where we live now (I honestly don’t miss old countryside cottage much, and don’t mind paying some rent now with the money we’ve made). So I’ll just drop by and try my luck to get into the HOH. My team and I have been practicing and rehearsing our new compositions, melodies and covers of popular music so I really hope luck will be on our side!
