Chapter 6 - Elynnor

467 Words
I’m not giving up hope. I’m NOT giving up on my dreams to become a famous musician in both West and East Germany. I’m NOT going to discourage my friends/orchestra from doing what they do with me. And I’m definitely NOT going to let Mrs. Hubert’s harsh and cruel words stop me from achieving my goals. Long story short, my meeting with Mrs. Hubert in the HOH to talk business & music didn’t go well. At all. She doesn’t like my styles and ways and ideas of traditional plus modern and old plus new, and she also has a STRONG dislike towards the kinds of music that young people like these days. It really breaks my heart to have her turn down the very concepts and ideas that may save her business, without even letting my friends and I showcase our talents to her. I can take her harsh criticism. I can take her strong rejection. My friends and I have been through so many rejections ourselves when trying to establish a name for ourselves with gigs and record labels after graduating. But to have Mrs. Hubert just turn us down without even giving us a chance? We came out all the way to Berlin for nothing. I have the best friends in the world. We may only be a small group of performers, but we sure know how to stick together as one even through the harshest of storms. They haven’t lost hope on me as their Maestro, and they told me we can still breakthrough into the music scene WITHOUT Mrs. Hubert and her musicians. I believe them. I really WANT to believe them.So we shall continue our search for opportunities by performing in various gigs around the city. Berlin is massively populated and we have to reach an audience as wide as possible. There’s no time to waste, so let’s start looking now! I do hope one day Mrs. Hubert will come to realise that trends WILL change inevitably and resisting them won’t help her business flourish. It’s for her own good. It’s for her own SURVIVAL. She still misses her late husband. The poor thing. I could see it in her eyes. She tries to hide it but not everything can be hidden, especially not when your heart still feels it. It’s understandable that she wants to keep things the way they are in respect to her late husband, but if she doesn’t adapt to new things and make other necessary changes to survive, how does she expect people to remember the Hubert name in 10 (or maybe less) years’ time?
