Of all the rotten luck!” Pete slumped down at the side of the car and gazed at the flat tire. “And we were doing so well.” They had travelled quite some way since coming through the Tyne Tunnel and Pete had just begun to feel a little more confident, when he felt a sudden jolt. The car then hurtled across the carriageway, out of control. Only by grappling frantically with the steering wheel, braking gently without panicking, had he managed to avoid a serious accident.
