Midnight’s POV
I’m anxiously awaiting the arrival of my two oldest sons. Not because I could go into labor any minute but because they’re bringing home a human. Why else would they have taken a plane instead of teleporting. Which means they haven’t told her they’re tribrids or that their parents are Kings and Queen of the realm. How are we gonna explain that we live in a freaking palace?
‘They’re at the gate’ I mindlink everyone.
I smooth out my lilac bodycon maternity dress and ruffle my hair. My style hasn’t changed much over the years. I still dress however the f**k I want. I don’t care that I’m a grown ass woman. The only thing holding me back right now is that I’m gigantic. I still prefer figure hugging clothing even though I’m a whale.
The rest of my family joins me on the front steps to welcome the boys home. I look down the row of my children and everyone is dressed well. At least they won’t embarrass me in front of company. It’s been a chore to keep Julian dressed. Nudity is natural in our world but when you haven’t shifted yet you don’t really have a reason to run around buck ass naked. The last one out of the house is Drake who comes to stand next to Andrei.
“Drake, what are you doing here?” I ask.
“Um welcoming my brother home?” He says.
“Not what I meant. You were supposed to be picking up your brothers and their mate,” I say.
“Sorry mom. Freya got sick and I was taking care of her,” He says.
Drake is the only one of my children who has found his mate. She is pregnant with their first pup and morning sickness has been a real b***h for her.
“Then who picked up your brothers?” I ask. I step up and look down the line. Everyone was here except... “Are you f*****g serious? You sent Freddie to go pick up the human? Are you trying to kill her?”
Fredrick was my wild child. He kept everyone in the palace on their toes from the day he was born. As he grew he became a daredevil. He was convinced he could fly and often tried to jump off the palace roof. He liked anything fast. Skydiving, cliff jumping, fast cars, and especially fast girls. I don’t expect my children to be perfect but Goddess honest truth Fredrick was a fuckboy. He screwed anything that moved. And which girl in their right mind is going to pass up an opportunity to screw a prince. I literally spelled him to shoot blanks until he is marked and mated so that he cannot impregnate half my kingdom.
“I’m sorry. I was about to head out when Freya linked me that she needed me. He was right there so he just took off,” Drake says.
“Goddess help your brother’s mate,” I say.
We see Freddie round the bend at an incredibly fast speed finally coming to a screeching halt in front of the palace. When the dust settles we see the doors open and Freddie runs to join his brothers in line. Elijah and Greyson both smack their brother on his head and call him an asshole. The poor girl is bent over behind the trunk of the car losing her lunch.
‘Bring my son’s mate some water to rinse her mouth’ I link the omegas.
Boston and Connor are both right by the girl’s side. One rubbing her back, the other holding her long blonde hair. She regains her balance and the omegas bring her water and mouthwash. She dries her mouth with a towel and turns to face us. Her face is beet red but she is absolutely adorable. She was tall, probably 5’9 thin but with nice curves. She was wearing high waisted jean shorts and a pink peasant blouse with some white tennis shoes. Her platinum blonde hair was in loose beach waves. Kinda like summer Barbie but prettier. She finally gets a look at everyone in front of her and then she sees the palace behind us.
“Is that a freaking castle?” She whisper yells at Boston, but we have enhanced hearing so everyone heard her.
“It’s a palace,” Connor says.
“As in royalty?” She asks. They both nod. “What the f**k did you guys get me into?”
Fredrick snickers.
‘Shut it son. You’re already on thin ice for making that poor girl vomit in my driveway. You’re cleaning that by the way. I’ve already told the omegas not to help you’ I mindlink him.
‘Aww mom, it was a joke’ Frederick links back.
‘Do you see anyone laughing?’ I say.
“It’s going to be ok,” Boston says.
Boston and Connor each take one of her hands and lead her up to the family. When she gets closer I can smell her and feel her power. I gasp a little and Shawn looks at me confused. I shake my head at him and stay silent.
“Mom, dads, this is Mikayla,” Boston says.
“You’re an angel,” I say.
She gasps and takes a slight step back. “What?” She asks.
‘I know what you are, sweet girl. My name is Midnight Rayne Mikaelson, Queen of Supernaturals in this realm. You are safe here. Do my sons know that you’re a Nephilim?’ I mindlink her.
‘No ma’am. They don’t know. I mask my scent and suppress my angelic aura so keep myself safe.’ She says back.
‘Do you know what my sons are?’ I ask her.
‘Yes I know they are tribrids. Not because they told me but because I can smell them and recognize them as my mates.’ Mikayla says.
‘Both of them?’ I ask.
‘Yes ma’am.’ she says.
To everyone else it looks like we are having a stare down. Completely silent and oblivious to our inner conversation.
‘Well you are safe here Mikayla. The Royal pack is protected by cloaking spells and no outsider can find it without having been here before or an invitation. When the time is right I can help you reveal your true self to my sons.’ I tell her.
‘What if they reject me? I’m not a fallen angel. My father was an angel and my mother was human.’ She says.
‘They’d be fools to reject you. And if they do well then I’ll kick their asses. Let me tell you a little secret. I can hear their thoughts.’ I tell her.
‘Isn’t that what you’re doing with me?’ She asks.
‘Oh no dear. As a female tribrid I can mindlink any being on this planet, humans included. I try not to listen to my children’s thoughts because frankly they’re all perverted. Some things a mother doesn’t need to know.’ I tell her.
Mikayla giggles and everyone is just staring.
“Mom, are you going to say something?” Connor asks.
“Welcome to the Royal Palace Mikayla. Someone will bring your things to your room. For now we have set up a welcome home barbeque out back,” I grab her hand and lead her inside.
‘Mom were you reading her mind?’ Boston asks me
‘She doesn’t know about us mom.’ Connor says.
I do not respond to them, I simply block them out.
