Drakes POV

1 Month Later

Freya is still comatose but the doctor says there’s nothing physically wrong with her. Mom arranged for a nurse to stay with Freya when I have to be away from the palace so that she can be at home instead of the hospital. They’ve set up monitors just like they would at a long term care facility. Being a pack consultant as well as head enforcer is an exhausting gig that takes me away from home a lot of the time. I investigate packs accused of corruption or abuse of power. I also help packs after the untimely deaths of their Alphas. After the increase in Rogue activity many Alphas have fallen ill and have asked that their sons and daughters be trained in case they have to take over sooner than planned. Blood Moon Pack was most recently affected. Rogues attacked their pack and their claws were coated with a fast acting poison. Their Luna was visiting her home pack when it happened and she felt her mate’s pain through their bond. She tried to get home as soon as she could but she was too late. Many thought they’d lose their Luna to heartbreak but mom knew better. She said Luna Rebecca is an Alpha’s daughter. A strong Alpha who trained his daughter to lead a pack. She met her mate at eighteen and feared he’d reject her due to her young age. He was older than her by twelve years. They would have spent a long happy life together but sadly she only had one year with him. Two months Blood Moon has been without their Alpha. She was challenged by the former Beta. After defeating him she was challenged by their Gamma and Head Warrior that same week. Now she’s struggling due to the lack of ranked members. The Beta female remained loyal to Alpha Rebecca. She didn’t agree with the challenge and she rejected him after he beat her for going against him. Alpha Rebecca is a gifted healer and helped Amy recover. I just got another email from her regarding her request for leadership consultation but I haven’t responded yet.

How can I leave my mate and son when they need me here?

“I don’t know what to do mom. I can’t just leave to take care of this pack. But I can’t bring myself to deny Blood Moon our help either,” I tell her.

“We’ll send the triplets. They’ve had just as much Alpha training as you have, and you’ve been training them to help you since those buttheads decided they didn’t want to go to college. They can go help Rebecca until she’s on her feet,” mom says.

“Ok. I’ll call her right now,” I tell her.

“Sounds good. Now I have to go check on your son. He’s giving grandpa a hard time. Andrei is out and dad can’t handle all four babies for too long,” she says.

“Thanks mom. I appreciate you helping me with him,” I tell her. Mom leaves and I dial Blood Moon.

“Blood Moon Pack, this is Amy speaking,” says a sweet voice.

“Hello. This is Drake Mikaelson,” I say.

“Hello, your highness. How can I help you?” Amy asks.

“Please call me Drake. I was looking to speak to your Alpha,” I say.

“I’m sorry your highness but Alpha Gregory recently passed away,” she says.

“Yes, I’m sorry for your loss. I’m also aware Rebecca has control over the Pack now making her Alpha,” I say.

“I’ve just linked her and she will pick up momentarily,” Amy says.

“Thank You,” I say.

After a moment Rebecca answers sounding exhausted.

“Hello Prince Drake. Thank you for getting back to me,” she says.

“It’s no problem Alpha Rebecca,” I say.

“It’s Luna,” she says.

“Is there a reason you don’t want the Alpha title?” I ask.

“My mate was Alpha and I his Luna. He passed before his time and my wolf told me the Goddess blessed us with a second chance. When we find him he will be Alpha. Until then I need your help getting my pack in order. When can we expect your arrival?” She asks.

“Unfortunately I will not be going myself. My mate fell into a coma after childbirth and I cannot leave her and my son,” I tell her.

“I’m so sorry, Prince Drake. Queen Midnight cannot heal her?” Rebecca asks.

“She’s done all she can. Freya is in perfect health. We’re just waiting for her to wake up. Since I cannot come myself I will be sending my brothers. They have been training under me for the past year and I am confident they can help your pack,” I tell her.

“How many?” Rebecca asks.

“Three. They do everything together. The dynamic trio they call themselves. More like the three stooges I say, but competent in their jobs I assure you,” I tell her.

“Oh boy. Sounds like I will have my hands full,” she laughs.

“Do you have a Beta in mind? We have a few Beta blood warriors deserving of a promotion,” I tell her.

“Yes, please. Amy has been helping but she has asked to return to her home pack for a while after everything we’ve been through,” Rebecca says.

“I will send over our best candidates so you can see who is best suited for your pack,” I told her.

“Thank you,” she says.

“They will be there tomorrow afternoon,” I tell her.

“Well I look forward to meeting them. The dynamic stooges as well,” she says. I cannot help but laugh.

“I’m going to have to steal that one from you,” I say.

“I don’t mind,” Rebecca laughs.

We exchange goodbyes and I call everyone I need to speak with into my office.

“Thank you all for coming-” I say as my mom bursts through the door with my screaming baby in her arms.

“I’m sorry to interrupt. Drake, can you please take Aaron for a little. I’ve tried everything to calm him but he’s been screaming his head off since I was in here earlier. Longer according to dad,” she says. “Also he won’t take the bottle so see if you can get him to eat.”

“Sure mom,” I say. I take him from her arms, “hey little man. Daddy is here. Let’s give grandma a break yeah? Can you stop fussin?” 

Aaron immediately stops crying and smiles at me.

“Is that all you wanted? You missed daddy?” I ask him.

“Fine with me,” mom says. She snaps her fingers and his bassinet is in the corner of the room as well as the diaper bag. “He’s all yours.”

I take Aaron over to my desk and sit back down. I put the bottle to his mouth and he immediately started feeding. We get back to business.

“As you can see this little one requires a lot of my attention. Which is why I will be sending the six of you to Blood Moon instead. Luna Rebecca will be looking for a new Beta and I suggested she meet with you three. She will see which of you will fill the position,” I explain to the warriors. I turn to my brothers, “As for you chuckle heads. You three will be helping her get back on her feet. Alpha Gregory passed about two months ago and the Luna has been challenged for her pack three times. She no longer has a Beta, Gamma, or head warrior because of it. She needs someone to help her until she finds her Alpha.”

“She’s looking for a chosen mate?” Elijah asks.

“No. The Goddess told her wolf that she’d be blessed with a second chance mate,” I tell them. “She even put me in my place when I asked her why she wouldn’t take the Alpha title. She said her mate is the Alpha and she will be his Luna.”

“When do we leave?” Freddie asks.

“Tomorrow,” I say.

With that they all go to their rooms to gather their essentials. I put the baby to sleep and mindlink the nurse to check on Freya. No change. Please come back to me baby.
