Wait a minute, what did he just say?
Princess Le Duong?
A maid?
I looked at him in confusion. “Excuse me, I don’t understand what you’re saying.”
He raised the folding fan in his hand and lifted my chin, frowning as he examined me from side to side with a look of suspicion and disdain, then shook his head and said, “You really are insane.”
I pouted in annoyance—he called me crazy, but I think he’s the one who’s truly nuts!
Strutting back and forth with those long legs, I couldn’t even tell if he was wearing underwear or not.
Maybe he escaped from a mental hospital!
Still, I’m a polite person, so I tactfully changed the subject:
“Oh, um, we haven’t even introduced ourselves. What’s your name? Could you leave your phone number? I’m going to file a complaint with the travel agency. They were completely irresponsible. I paid a lot of money and not only received no service but nearly died! I’m definitely going to sue, and I’ll need you as a witness. So you have to…”
Faced with his “are-you-out-of-your-mind” expression, I couldn’t go on.
My voice faded, and I fell silent.
I stared wide-eyed at him.
He looked at me with such disdain that it made me uncomfortable. Hmph, I wanted to look down on him too!
He stared at me for a while, then shook his head in disappointment and sighed lightly.
“Hey! You’re so rude! Who exactly are you?” I snapped, irritated and yelling at him in frustration.
The corners of his mouth curved into a vague smile. “Are you sure you want to know who I am?”
Tsk!
Who does this guy think he is?
Who even cares!
Still, I did need to know his name.
He’d make a great witness for my lawsuit, so I reluctantly nodded.
His smile deepened, and he suddenly leaned in close, his nose almost touching mine. His breath, carrying the scent of orchids, brushed gently against my face.
“I’m telling you, don’t regret it.”
My heart nearly stopped.
Never in my life had a man spoken to me this closely—and this one happened to be devastatingly handsome, too.
His warm breath, carrying that subtle orchid scent, hit my lips.
Damn it, why did I feel so thrilled?
I awkwardly replied, almost mechanically, “I won’t regret it.”
He stared at me silently for a moment, then rested one hand on his hip and used the other to fan away the bits of debris on my face.
When I’d climbed out of the lake, fallen leaves and dirt had stuck to my clothes and skin.
His movements were gentle and careful, and his narrow phoenix eyes glinted with an unreadable light.
I felt my breath quicken again.
“Ngoc Luu Uyen. That’s my name.”
Phew... After all that drama, it wasn’t anything that special.
I smiled—the sweetest smile I could muster. “My name is Lac Bao Ninh.”
He looked at my smiling face and frowned again.
This guy really likes to frown. In such a short time, he’d already done it three times.
“You’re smiling,” he said slowly. “Do you not know my nickname?”
