Chapter 7— Damian Enters the Picture

865 Words
The city’s grand streets buzzed with anticipation. Word had spread that Damian, the Alpha of the Northern Clans, the warrior feared by all and revered by many, would be visiting Darian’s household for a few weeks. His reputation preceded him: a man unmatched in strength, feared in battle, respected in councils, and desired by countless women across clans. Maya, as usual, knelt at the foot of the grand staircase, polishing the marble steps. She had heard whispers of Damian’s coming for weeks, though she never imagined the enormity of his presence. “Damian is coming,” Velyra said to her minions with a sly grin. “And this time, he will see the beauty of our family… the one who deserves respect… not that pathetic servant girl.” “Yes, my lady,” Feyna replied, eyes glinting with anticipation. Maya’s hands shook as she continued her work. I must remain invisible, she thought. He must never notice me. If he sees me… he… I don’t know what will happen. When Damian finally arrived, the mansion trembled with the quiet weight of his presence. His tall frame exuded power, his dark hair brushing the shoulders of his tailored armor, and his eyes—sharp, golden, and piercing—scanned the hall with calculated intensity. Even the bravest men bowed as he entered. “Welcome,” Darian said, bowing stiffly. “It is an honor to host you in our home.” “I honor the invitation,” Damian replied, voice deep, resonant, carrying the weight of authority. “I hope the arrangements are suitable.” “Yes… everything has been prepared,” Darian said nervously. Velyra floated forward, smiling, presenting herself with perfect grace. “Alpha Damian, it is a privilege to have you in our home.” Damian’s gaze swept the room, and then—just briefly—his golden eyes flicked toward the young maid polishing the floors in the corner. His eyes narrowed slightly, a strange tension passing through his body, subtle yet undeniable. Something… different… he thought. Something primal stirred within him, his inner wolf bristling, alert, restless. Find her, the wolf whispered, low and urgent. She is yours. Damian stiffened imperceptibly, hand clenching at his side. He did not yet understand, but the scent of the girl—the faint aura of power surrounding her—stirred something ancient and undeniable. Maya froze, sensing a shift in the air, a weight pressing down upon her. She dared not look up. Don’t let him see me… please don’t let him see me, she thought, trembling. But the scent of the Alpha, rich and commanding, filled her senses. A strange warmth pooled in her chest, mingling fear and fascination. Her pulse quickened. Her violet eyes flickered involuntarily, glowing faintly in the dim light. Velyra noticed the glance, however brief. Her lips curved into a sly, calculating smile. “Did you see that?” she whispered to Feyna. “He looked at her. The servant girl.” “Impossible,” Feyna said, leaning closer. “Why would he even notice her?” “Watch,” Velyra said, eyes sharp. “We will see. She dares to draw attention to herself, and I will punish her for it… quietly.” Maya’s heart raced as she bowed her head, fingers gripping the polishing cloth like a lifeline. Please… don’t notice me… But Damian’s wolf had already recognized her, the connection impossible to ignore. He excused himself politely from Velyra, moving closer, scanning the hall. Something inside him—an instinct older than the world—stirred, demanding he find her. Maya felt the pull, the undeniable tug in her chest, and a strange warmth coursed through her veins. Her wolf stirred, curious and alive, sensing another presence she did not yet understand. Aziria, standing silently at the edge of the room, fur bristling faintly, whispered in her mind: This is him, Maya. Your mate. Your Luna. But not yet. You must endure. You must remain hidden until the time is right. Maya swallowed hard, trying to steady her shaking hands, heart pounding. Mate? Luna? I… what does that mean? Velyra’s laughter rang sharp and cruel across the hall. “It seems our Alpha finds the servant interesting,” she said, eyes narrowing. “Perhaps she is more dangerous than we think.” “Yes, my lady,” Morrick said quietly. “We should watch her… closely.” Maya lowered her head further, hiding her glowing violet eyes and trembling hands. The first encounter with Damian was brief, but it changed everything. Something had stirred in both of them, an invisible tether connecting their destinies. And though neither fully understood it yet, the threads of fate had begun to weave a bond that could not be broken. As Damian continued through the mansion, evaluating the arrangements, Maya’s pulse raced, a strange warmth and tension humming in her chest. She did not know it yet, but this meeting marked the beginning of a journey that would bring her power, her freedom, and the revelation of her true destiny. And in the quiet corners of the grand mansion, Velyra and her minions watched, plotting. The games were only beginning.
