Luca made the mistake of answering his phone.
“They can’t stay here,” was the first thing to come out of Xavier’s mouth.

Luca grimaced, glancing toward his wife who immediately smiled at him.
“No,” he said stiffly, noting that their youngest was in his wife’s arms, the other children nestled on the couch, most already passed out from such a long day.
“Just for a few days until they’re satisfied,” Xavier pushed.
“What about Kai’s cabin?”
“You know that bunker isn’t well-stocked and it’s too close. Without Yuni’s protection, they’d just be sitting ducks.”
