One Royal Bombshell, Lips, and Lies
"I walk, or tell me who you are."
Scott's phone buzzed while she was in the middle of her morning tea. The screen showed Raina's name. Her response came naturally to her. "Hello?"No greeting was given. The voice was flat and said, "He didn't tell you, did he?"Scott stopped. Halfway to her mouth, her mug hovered. "Tell me what?"
The buzz of silence lasted much too long.“You have to get ready, Scott,” Raina replied softly."For what purpose?"There is more to him than Jules Bastian. He's—The line splintered. After checking the bars, Scott took the phone away. Complete signal."Raina?" she snapped.
However, the call had already ended. Scott got up too quickly. Unaware of it, her tea spilled. Her thoughts quickly returned to the crown. The quiet. Jules's tendency to shut down when she approached the truth too closely. Before she could consider, she snatched up her bag and jacket, keys in hand. Her heart pounded.
He had to tell her about it. When he said it, she had to see his expression. Jules was standing in his office at that same time, his phone close to his ear."Teddy," he uttered tightly. "You said you would give me more time."She's currently in the news a lot. The board is looking for answers."I'll take care of it."
"Will you? Because the palace is getting ready for a coronation, and you are currently playing house. Jules's jaw tightened . He answered, "She can't know yet."
"You have no say in how long she remains in the dark."The line died. Jules let out a sigh. The crown appeared to be observing him from its place on his desk . Then his front door shook with a knock .He pivoted. It's too late.
Scott had already arrived.
The Confrontation
Scott didn't wait for an invitation to enter. She marched inside after pushing the door open.Calm and unreadable, Jules met her halfway. She didn't hold off till he spoke."Tell me."He remained silent."Now tell me who you really are."Silence, however. She trembled. Her voice cracked. "I located the crown. The box was visible to me. But I wanted to think you weren't lying to me, so I convinced myself I was mistaken.
His eyes darkened, but his face remained the same. She raised her voice and remarked, "You said this wasn't a fairy tale." "It wasn't a damn lie, did you say that?"He took his time, made his way to the desk, and unlocked the velvet box.He swung it in her direction. The light glinted on the crown.Royal, heavy, and real.Scott gazed at it.
Jules stated, "Jules Adrien Leopold Bastian is my full name." I am the Solarein principality's heir. She remained still."I never requested the title. Born into it was not something I requested."So why conceal it?" She muttered."Because everything is taken by the crown."
As she moved on, she questioned, "And what about me?" "You made a payment of $250,000. You arrived at my house. You gave me a sincere kiss. Was I only there to divert your attention from your royal drama?
"No," he responded softly. "The first thing I wanted for myself was you."She gazed at him. Tears filled her eyes."And yet... you didn't tell me.""I wanted to let you know.""But you didn't."Her voice broke. He took a step forward and extended his hand. However, she took a step back."To be honest, I came here. I only have a man who is skilled at hiding.
She balled her hands into fists. "I had faith in you."
The Kiss
She was not pursued by Jules. Not quite yet.
She was gorgeous, damaged, and angry as he watched her stand in the center of his flat like a hurricane. She turned to go."I ought to have informed you," he remarked. She spoke sharply. "It's too late."He took two steps across the gap between them.took hold of her hand. Her cheeks flushed with emotion as she whirled, her hair fluttering over her shoulder."This wasn't something I planned," he remarked. "I didn't anticipate you. But I couldn't take my eyes off you after you came onto that stage.
Her voice trembled as she said, "You bought me." "You purchased me.""I purchased a date," he declared. "Not a female. However, I managed to get both. Her breath caught. He gazed at her as though she were the only thing keeping him afloat. He muttered, "You made me feel normal." "I felt liberated because of you."The remarks struck a deep chord. She blinked quickly.
Then...He gave her a kiss.It wasn't supple. It wasn't courteous. It was uncooked. As if it had been waiting too long to be released. She didn't pull away as she gasped against his mouth.
She ran her hands through his hair. He put his arms around her waist. The kiss grew more intense. heated up.entangled fingers. Breaths became rapid. Walls fell.Their rage turned to a fire.Their fire turned into a necessity.
She held on to him as if she couldn't bear to let go.And he gave her a kiss like if he was broke. However, when they eventually separated, both of them gasping and in a daze—Once more, there was complete silence. Not uncomfortable. Not upset.Rich in hypothetical scenarios.
She met his eyes. Her entire being trembled.
Aftermath
Scott's heart pounded as he leaned against the wall. She had smudged her lipstick. Her trembling fingers persisted.
Jules was standing a few feet away, panting heavily."What now?" she inquired. He gazed at her as though he had never seen anything so genuine."Everything is different now."
The words were hefty yet gentle. She was about to speak, but she stopped when his phone buzzed. He remained still. The buzz returned. She gave him a look. "Is the palace there?"He gave one nod.
"There's a plane waiting. Tonight is when I'm scheduled to depart. Her chest grew constricted. "Are you leaving?""I'm not sure.""I will not accompany you.""I didn't inquire.""But you intended to."Yes, he said in silence.
Scott took a step forward, feeling all the emotions. "This relationship between us is insufficient for a regal life. I'm not the type to grin for the camera or wear crowns.
"I understand.""I enjoy cheap coffee, fries, and loud laughter.""I understand.""Palace isn't my style."He declared, "I never wanted a palace." "I desired you."One more buzz.Jules's eyes shifted to the phone. Next, at her."I have to leave," he declared.
Scott gave a nod."I'll be back.""You'd better."They looked at each other. He took a step back, picked up his coat, and made his way to the door. But she spoke before he opened it."If you return... return truthfully."
He turned, gave a single nod, and walked away. The door shut.In the quiet of his flat, Scott stood.encircled by gold.Everything that wasn't hers was all around her.She looked down at the crown that was still on the table. It returned her gaze.heavy.final.Risky
.
To the empty room, she said "Don't let him break me, please."
