Honestly

"Go ahead," I shrug, and wipe the sweat from my brow with my hand, "Talk fast because I only have two hours and you're wasting them." "My dad is not very happy with you, in fact he's looking for a space in his busy schedule just to come and nag you," she mutters, and her words make me let out a tired grunt. My promoter is not happy with me, but that's not a surprise. He's never been happy with me. I don't even know why he bid for the job if he thinks I'm so difficult, "He thinks you're being way too controversial on social media. Much more than you should be. Plus, Jake accepted the rematch and since 'it's obvious he'll beat you again' he thinks you'll lose a lot of followers for being pathetic." "Actually, since I started being controversial I've gained a lot of followers," I explain, but Gemma doesn't look too impressed, "Granted, it's not the best audience in the world, but at least I'm making a name for myself. You have to admit, it's pretty impressive how much fame I have for my underachieving qualities and short time in the medium." "You're only famous because of Lion. You know that if it weren't for..." Gemma starts with her useless advice again. For some reason unknown to me, she thinks she's my manager or something. I appreciate how much she seems to take an interest in me, but sometimes it's boring. My gaze travels around the gym and when I see Midnight looking uncomfortable next to Theresa, who is talking her ear off, I can't help but want to help her. "Midnight!" I yell, getting her attention and interrupting Gemma. I beckon her over, "Sorry to interrupt, you know I love that you're so good at all this, but you should meet my new friend Mid. She's great." "Ah, Lion's daughter. I can't believe it," she mumbles, turning to Mid, who comes approaching us with unsure, slow steps. Gemma whispers, "Why does she smell human?" "She’s only half-wolf," I reply, and when Mid is close I pull away from Gemma to hug her once more because I can't stop. She's too adorable not to. I want to keep her by my side all the time like a stuffed animal, "Midnight, this is my good friend Gemma. She's my promoter’s daughter, my classmate in college and my lover from time to time." "Hi, it's nice to meet you," Gemma greets with a big smile, "I can't believe Lion is your father, he's so... young." "He was fifteen when he impregnated my mother, she was twenty. She's dead now," Mid replies, in a shy, hurried voice. Gemma is shocked, having no idea what to answer to that. I have to teach Mid that it's not normal to blurt out that her mom is dead. "Isn't Midnight super funny?" I laugh awkwardly, but none of the women seem amused. "I have to go do a couple of things, sorry. It was good to meet you, Gemma... daughter, classmate and lover," Midnight mutters, before releasing her grip on me and walking off to Lion's office, drawing the attention of basically all the alphas with her long, strange, sexy, uncoordinated body. "That was weird," Gemma mutters and giggles a little, "Now I see why you like her. She's attractive... I guess. If you ignore that she's half human." "She's the hottest omega I've ever seen in my entire life," I correct, and if I'm not mistaken her eyes sparkle a little with jealousy, "Hey, you're extremely sexy too. The sexiest beta to ever live. You're the best thing that's ever passed through my bed. But you're like a sëx bomb with years of experience and she's an innocent little angel that I want to stick my dïck." "Whatever, you like anything with t**s. We can't take you as a judge of a person's hotness," she rolls her eyes, still sounding jealous, "Now get back to your routine, I've got things to do too." "Okay. Thanks for the warning, doll," I bend down to kiss her again, taking her face hard when she tries to escape once more. She squeals and squirms but I still manage to get my tongue in her mouth, "See you tonight?" "You're such a pig," she cries, pushing me hard. Matthew next to me looks at us wearily because he's used to it by now and goes back to what he was doing, "I'll be there an hour later than usual and I’ll stay over. Put clean sheets on this time." She doesn't even wait for me to answer, she just leaves stomping her feet and wiping her mouth as if she doesn't love my kisses. The moment she's out of my sight, I run to Lion. I swear to him that I will have no more distractions and go into training like my life depends on it. Because it basically does. Once I'm completely numb all over and somewhat dehydrated, I call my workout over and take a quick shower before running out the door to get to the cafe. I don't need my boss nagging me again (and by boss I mean my big brother). I end up arriving an hour later than I should, but that's half an hour earlier than the time I usually arrive so my brother doesn't say anything to me, he just pushes me and hits me because he knows my whole body is sore. The shift is the same as usual; be a waiter, make coffee, joke around with Jessica, annoy Bastian and eat as much as possible before the cook notices and hits me over the head with the nearest culinary implement. "Hey, Gravy," Bastian calls out to me and Jessica laughs at me. I walk over to where he is, ready to complain about it, but he doesn't make it possible, "Go home, everything is quiet here and we don't need your help. Finish that project once and for all, will you? stop fooling around and thinking about other things." "Okay, I will. I promise," I nod, even though I know I won't be able to put my mind to that damn equation because I have a book to read and an essay to write, "And maybe you could give me a paid vacation? At least until it's my graduation?" "No," he replies, losing the brotherly love in his voice, "I already pay you way more than I should for your miserable help. If you want that Harley, you'll have to work for it. I'm not your sponsor." "You're my brother. My flesh and blood. Aren't you ashamed to have me driving that piece of shït?" I whisper in a hurt voice, trying to make him feel guilt, but of course I don't succeed, "Whatever, I'll order pizza for dinner. Be early or I'll eat alone." "I'm going out with Angie today. Feel free to do whatever you want." "Okay, have fun," I raise my eyebrows at him and Bastian raises his arms to make his biceps move up and down, "Gemma will visit me in the evening. No problem with that right?" "As long as you wear a condom, we won't have a problem," he shrugs. I smile towards him, giving him a wink and grab my backpack before heading out. As I'm walking up the stairs to the building, my cell phone vibrates repeatedly again and I swallow saliva to control the urge to look at it. It's ringing like crazy today and I have to admit I'm a little scared. I'm a strong and capable alpha, and as such I'm not ashamed to admit that reading all the rude messages sent to me ruins my day. It's not that I care much, or that it hurts me, but it frustrates me. And yet, I simply can't ignore my cell phone, I have to see what they're saying.
