Emmy... "Zara murmured with some hesitation.
"Um..." Emmy mumbled, her head lolling on the sticky tabletop.
Zara placed her hands on her belly, feeling a wave of nausea. "I need to go to the washroom," she said, her voice slightly unsteady. Pushing herself up from the plush sofa, her legs trembled beneath her. She clutched her small handbag, grabbed her phone and moved towards the washroom.
As she reached it, the washroom odor made her uncomfortable, and her stomach lurched again. She hurried into an empty stall, sat down, and she threw up.
Then, she stood up and rinsed her mouth at the tap, the cool water a temporary relief. "Now better," she murmured to her blurry, pale reflection, adjusting her dress correctly and her hair. She emerged from the washroom, and she moved like a zombie.
She stood near the dancing stage on the floor, watching the colorful lights, and some of them were dancing on stage. She clutched a glass pillar for support. Her eyelids were half-closed with blurred vision.
A shadow from behind, the big, veiny hands from Zara's behind wrapped around her small waist gently. Zara could feel the mild scent, as she knew the scent. His breathing air could feel her skin, triggering a shiver that ran down her spine. "Zara...." a deep, husky voice whispered behind her ear.
Zara didn't react, still feeling drowsy, "You missed me, A-nae..." he said, and he gently pressed a soft kiss on her neck.
A breath caught in her throat. "Yeobo..." The word slipped out before she could stop it. What the hell is that? A sudden throb of pain shot through her head, and she pressed a hand towards her temple, as her mind flashed to her memories.
"A-nae..." Min-Ju's voice echoed in her ears, his arms wrapped around her, and the mild rose fragrance of him.
Zara took his hand from her waist. "Go away," she said, her voice filled with anger. "You are not a responsible man."
"I'm sorry, Zara, I promise, I will never make you wait again," Min-Jun pleaded as he reached his hand towards her waist to try to pull her back towards him. Grabbed her waist and lifted her to the table. He started kissing her neck and slowly moved to her lips, still his hands still on her hips, pulled her near, and both of them went deep and ate each other with a kiss. Suddenly, she came back to reality through pop music.
Zara looked at her waist; no hands were on her, no shadow behind her, but she still felt the warm rose scent lingering in the air; her eyes searched for him through the group of people. What the fu*k was that, are those my memories or am I dreaming? She wondered.
Zara stared at the retreating figure in the hoodie, who walked speedily, hiding his face behind his hoodie and wearing a mask, he walked towards the entrance. She just followed him back. "Hey, wait..." she called out, her eyes fixed on the hoodied person. As she stumbled towards the glass doors, a hand clamped firmly on her left arm, halting her.
Zara whirled around, turned as his hand dragged forcefully. Her eyes narrowed in shock. "Adam," she whispered. Her gaze shifted from his cleaved black shirt, revealing his tattoo that snaked across his collarbone, to the intense, almost possessive glint in his hunter-green eyes. What the hell is he doing here?
"Zara.... "What are you doing here?" Adam asked as his eyes fixed on her disheveled appearance, the slight sway of her body.
Zara sighed, rolled her eyes away, and pulled her hand from his grasp. "A small smirk replied, "Why do you care? "Do I need to inform you about everything I do?" she retorted, her voice laced with irritation.
Adam's mind reeled from his earlier conversation with Dante, a whirlwind of unspoken anxieties. He was busily checking his office documents. The sudden shrill of his phone sliced through the quiet concentration. "Why? "Winter calling this late?" he murmured, a flicker of unease shadowing his brow as he swiped the green button.
"Yes. Mr. "Winter," Adam spoke after hearing Dante's anxious tone fill his ear.
"Adam. Can you just track Zara's location? "I think she's going somewhere," Dante replied.
"Okay, Mr. Winter. "I will check," Adam said, and cut off the call as his fingers were already flying across his phone screen, initiating the trace. A knowing smirk played on Adam's lips, realizing the truth, "You sneaked out again. "Why are you even making your life a risk?" Adam asked, his voice dropped and laced with care. His phone popped with a message sound in his hand.
Zara's gaze flickered to his phone and moved to his eyes, a wave of disappointment washing over her. "You're tracking me again," she questioned. "Stop this nonsense, Adam."
"I am not. "This is just a coincidence we met," he said, his voice more like pleading.
"Coincidence... "Zara's brows arched in disbelief. "Don't act as if you care about me."
Adam sighed, running a hand through his hair. "I don't understand what's gotten into you lately. "Why would I need to track you? "You've been acting so… distant." He paused, his gaze searching for hers. "I care about you, Zara. More than you seem to realize. "Why can't you understand what I am trying to tell you? ""Nowadays, you act like a spoiled kid," Adam added as he grabbed her unsteady hands.
" Cared...." Zara laughed, clapping her hands like a tease, "You do more shitter things behind my back, now you act like f*****g care of me." she retorted, a bitter edge to her voice.
Adam grabbed her hands, holding them gently. "Zara... if I did something wrong, please tell me. "We can solve that, but keep distancing yourself and make me question everything," he said, his words genuine and a little hurt.
Zara's gaze remained on his face, and her mind reeled. Adam and his friend Jade were sitting on Zara's bed, kissing each other in her bed. Zara's eyes widened in shock, watching them as the doorway kept fresh juice in her hand.
As known, a smirk appeared on her lips, thinking of their kiss, and she removed his hands from her, raising her brows as she stepped closer, no gap in between them. "Nothing.... "I just don't like fake care," she said, her voice low and challenging as she turned and walked out of the bar.
Adam let out a frustrated breath, his hands ran over his hair in confusion. "s**t, what the hell is her problem? "She has something, but she's never going to open up," he murmured as he ran outside behind her.
"Why do I fake? Zara...." Adam followed her back.
"I don't know... "I just have feelings like that," she said, walking into the parking lot.
"Zara... wait. At least, can I drop you off? "Adam called out, running behind her, and reached out her hand as he tried to pull her back.
She never stopped, took her phone from her small handbag, her finger searched for Emmy's number, and dialed Emmy. Before the call connected, he grabbed her phone and cut off the call. "What the hell is your problem, Adam? "Why can't you leave me alone?" she questioned, her voice rising in anger.
"What's my problem?" Adam's eyes rolled upwards, and his hand ran over his hair. "I'm trying to make sure you get home safely! "How can I leave you in this big city?" he pleaded, his eyes filled with a mixture of frustration and genuine concern.
Zara's brows arched, moved closer, and watched his eyes from the bottom." Why do you care.... why do I have to come with you?" she asked, her voice confident.
Adam grabbed her hand, pointing to her ring finger, holding a diamond ring. "Because we are engaged. "We're going to get married next year. "Everyone knows about this, except you," he paused, his voice low and in pain. " Please, for whatever reason, you have to hate me." It's fine.... Hate me how much you want. Now, just get in my car. "I can't leave my future wife on the road," he roared, his voice echoing in the parking lot.
