Nocturnal Renegades

Sage I stormed up to my room, my footsteps echoing off the marble floors. I needed to get away from all this, to remind myself who I was. If they wanted to control me, fine. Tonight, I was going to show them just how wrong they were. I threw open my closet and pulled out a pair of tight jeans and a stylish, off-the-shoulder top. I slipped into some comfortable yet chic ankle boots and added a touch of makeup, opting for a dramatic cat-eye and nude lips. My hair was left loose in beachy waves. As I looked in the mirror, a smirk spread across my face. I looked ready for anything. I sent a quick text to Tiffany: Party at the club tonight? Her reply was immediate: OMG yes! Be there in 20. Perfect. I slipped out of my room, avoiding the creaky floorboards. The house was quiet, everyone probably assuming I was sulking in my room. I stepped outside, the cool night air hitting my face, invigorating me. Tiffany’s car pulled up, the bass from the music thumping even before she rolled down the window. “Get in, girl! Let’s blow off some steam!” she yelled, her excitement contagious. I slid into the passenger seat, and we sped off into the night. The city lights blurred past us, the promise of freedom and fun igniting a wild energy within me. Tiffany glanced over, her eyes sparkling. “Rough day?” “You have no idea,” I muttered, staring out the window. “But tonight, it’s all about having fun.” We arrived at the club, the neon lights and pulsating music a stark contrast to the stifling atmosphere of my home. Inside, the place was packed with people, a mix of familiar faces and new ones, all united in the quest for a good time. I felt the tension melt away as I lost myself in the crowd, the music vibrating through me. Drinks flowed, and laughter filled the air. I danced, letting go of every ounce of frustration, the rhythm of the music drowning out my thoughts. Tiffany and I found a group of friends, and we joined them, the night becoming a blur of movement and exhilaration. As I danced, I caught the eye of a guy across the room. He was tall, with a mischievous grin that promised trouble. Perfect. I needed a little trouble tonight. He sauntered over, his confidence evident in every step. “Hey, you look like you could use a dance partner.” I raised an eyebrow, smirking. “Think you can keep up?” He laughed, pulling me onto the dance floor. We moved together, the music guiding us, and for the first time in a long time, I felt free. No expectations, no responsibilities, just the pure joy of the moment. After a few dances, we headed to the bar for a drink. “So, you’re Sage, right?” he asked, leaning in closer. “The famous daughter of a celebrity?” I rolled my eyes but smiled. “Guilty as charged.” “You must get a lot of attention,” he said, his gaze intense. “I mean, look at you. Any guy would be lucky to have you.” I shrugged, feeling a bit flattered but wary. “It comes with the territory.” He moved closer, his arm brushing against mine. “So, how about you and I get out of here? Go somewhere more private?” I hesitated, the warning bells in my head starting to ring. “I don’t think so. I’m here to have fun with my friends.” His expression shifted, irritation flashing in his eyes. “Come on, don’t play hard to get. You’re not like the others. You’re special.” Before I could respond, a commotion near the entrance caught my attention. My heart sank as I saw James storming in, his eyes scanning the crowd with a look of fury. I knew I needed to get away. “Sorry, I have to go,” I said quickly, trying to pull away from the guy. He tightened his grip on my arm. “Don’t be like that,” he insisted, his voice taking on a more menacing tone. I yanked my arm free. “Let go of me!” In the chaos, I managed to slip away, blending into the crowd. I could hear James calling my name, but I ignored him, weaving through the throng of people. Tiffany and I finally made it to the exit, my heart pounding as we stepped outside. “Let’s go,” I urged, pulling her toward her car. But before we could reach it, the guy from inside appeared, his face twisted with anger. “You think you can just ditch me?” he snarled, grabbing my wrist. “You’re coming with me.” “Let go!” I shouted, trying to shake him off. But he wouldn’t budge. “Get in the car!” he demanded, trying to drag me toward his vehicle. Panic surged through me. Desperate, I swung my free hand, hitting him in the face with my bag. He stumbled back, his grip loosening. But as he fell, he hit the pavement hard, his head cracking against the curb. “Oh my God,” Tiffany gasped, her eyes wide with horror. Blood started pooling beneath his head. My stomach churned as I realized what had just happened. “We have to get out of here,” I whispered, my voice trembling. “Now.” As the night draped its comforting veil over the city, my mind was consumed by the chaos unfolding before me, the sound of club doors opening behind me barely registered in my ears. A soft murmur of footsteps approached from behind, barely audible against the backdrop of pulsating music and laughter. My focus, however, remained ensnared by the chilling tableau at my feet. But then, a voice cut through the haze of my thoughts, pulling me back to reality.
