  Delilah trailed a few steps behind Wesley as they exited the Senate building. The late afternoon sunlight spilled across the stone steps, but even its warmth couldn’t thaw the frost between them.   He didn’t look back once.   His long strides cut through the air, his jaw tight, his hands clenched as though gripping the ghosts of thoughts he couldn’t speak aloud.
