"Try to stop me Alex. I DARE YOU.”
Scarlet shoved her clothes into her suitcase with unnecessary force.
“ Arrogant jerk,” She muttered.
“ Who does he think he is to treat me like..like his property?” She stammered.
The kitchen scene flashed before her eyes and she shook it off. Refusing to think about the way his mouth had felt on hers.
The way his tongue had invaded…
It was no longer a thought or a random decision to be made.
It was a necessity.
She needed to leave.
And soon.
Soon means, no bye bye to Aunt Fi.
But it's worth it.
Since Alex won't see reason, then she won't stay either.
It's that simple.
She dropped in the last of her stuff and closed the case.
Grabbing her laptop she frowned when she saw an unread message from her editor.
*Scarlet, I tried calling you earlier but couldn't reach you. The Publisher has moved the production schedule forward due to the strong pre-orders, so we’ll need the final draft of FALLING EMBER by the end of the week.
Please confirm when you'll be able to send the remaining chapters, so we can proceed with editing.

She stared at the message before slowly closing her laptop.
“Perfect!” She muttered bitterly.
“Lost my best friend, Threatened to be trapped in Spain and now a deadline…
She collapsed face down on the bed and stayed there till she dozed off.

Scarlet stared at her reflection again and smiled but it still didn't meet her eyes. She walked over to gather her suitcase and handbag before looking at her watch.
A Quarter after 7.
Perfect.
If she had not wasted time covering her lack of sleep result, it would have been more than Perfect.
But like Aunt Fi always says…
It's no use crying over spilled milk.

She sighed and took in the environment as she got out of the main building successfully.
Looking at the stretched road in front of her she went blank but determination made her start walking.
Last time or was it the day before, she had been driven for 30mins to get to the main building and now she wonders how long it will take her to get to the giant gate.
ONE HOUR AND A HALF LATER…
Scarlet breathed a sign of relief when she got to the giant of a gate. She thought she would die if she had to go further.
Sighting four men stationed there, she put on her best fake smile and approached. Dragging her case along.
“Hola, um.. abrir…la..
She paused, unsure of what else to say.
“I need the gate opened please? “
When they did move she added.
“por favor? (Please?) “
Still they just stared at her.
Her patience thinned.
Plus the fact that Fiona might notice her absence and come searching. Thank goodness her phone is spoiled.
That way Alex can't find her after she moves to another country.
Alex!!! She really needs to leave.
“Open the gate, please I'm leaving! “ She half yelled and they did move but not to do her bidding.
One of them steps forward, giving her a polite bow.
Before saying in flawless English…
“I'm sorry, señora. We can't. “
Scarlet frowns.
“You can't?
“Orden del señor Castillos” He explains and she didn't even need translation to know what he meant.
Alejandro was serious. But even still what did he want to gain?
“I think you know the answer to that” A tiny little voice whispers in her head and her frown deepens.
“Can I speak to him? My phone got… “ She gestures at the guards and he nodded and left.
Soon he came back but empty handed.
“Señor will be in his study. “ He said and left her standing mouth agape.
The other guard cleared up too and she was left standing along in front of a giant gate.
What had Alex…
The low hum of an engine cut off her thought and a sleek black car soon stopped next to her.
The driver was out in no time.
“Master Castillos will see you now.” He said and opened the back seat.
Seething from barely controlled anger, she got in and let the man tuck her belongings into the boot.
When he got back in, she asked even though she knew the answer.
“Why won't the guards open the gate? “
“I'm sorry señora. Señor Castillos said you're not allowed to leave the estate.” He responded.

Scarlet stares at the big door. One would think we was going to meet with a total stranger and not her childhood neighbor and best friend.
What changed?
Alex of the past would never do this to her so what changed?
On arriving, two maids took her case and bag, saying Master Castillos ordered them to take it back to the room.
She would have refused but the fear in their eyes was un mistaken.
When she arrived, there were no maids…
Maybe they made themselves scanty.
The guards around the house…
The title, Master.
It all seems so strange and the big estate…it would take h*ll of a cash to maintain such beauty.
Who are you Alex or should she say…
Alejandro Castillos.
“Might as well get it all with” She murmured, pushing the door open.
The room was dark and she had to blink slowly to adjust to the darkness.
Still she could see too little.
There was faint light coming from a small window a little far from her position.
The maids had led her here.
Maybe they were mistaken.
She turns to take her leave but his words freezes her movement.
“Did you enjoy your morning walk, Flame? “
“Turn around Scarlet” His voice was relaxed…almost
Indulgent.
“Morning walk…
She slowly turned and rested her back against the door.
“Is that what you call it?” She asked.
There was a brief silence before he broke it again.
“You think I want to do this? “
Scarlet scowl, her eyes finally catching the figure across her.
“You seem like you're having fun.” She threw back, raising her voice higher than she intended.
She began to move blindly to the figure.
“You told your men to send me back… told your maid to take my bag from me. Which only means your threat was real.” She said halting in front of him.
“I don't bluff Flame. You of all people should know that.”
Scarlet stares at his barely visible face in silence.
“So when can I go home? I mean.. You can't keep me here forever. I already regret coming here, plus, I have my own life, I have a deadline to keep so when can I leave? “
His laughter was not kind or warm. It was chilling and mocking.
“Till d*ath do us part” He said.
