Chapter 20

She raised her tear filled eyes to look at me.

"Who are you? And why are you here?"

She asked clearly irritated.

"Am Daniella Connor's personal nurse" l said and she frowned.

Okay! This isn't good.

"You mean you touched my son? " He asked as she eyed me downwards.

"I had to help him recover" l said and she glared at me.

  "This is unbelievable, Connor had to employ a troll, a commoner to treat him!"

That really got to me.

Is it that obvious that am a commoner.

  "Isn't he afraid you might infect him or something" she further said and tears welled up in my eyes.

"Leave us" she said.

I obediently stood up and left the room.

I met the unknown man in the living room.

I rushed past him and headed to my room.

The only thing l need right one is to cry my eyes out.

I just want to bury my face in the pillow and let it all out.

    I used the pillow to cover my ears 

Who are those disturbing my sleep?

   Why are they shouting?

"Mom she is staying" l heard Connor's voice.

Holly hell! I just heard Connor speak.

     I got up quickly and checked the time.

  It's noon already.

Have slept for hours Leaving my patient.

I recalled what Mrs Braxton told me and for some reasons l just wanted to remain in my room.

But l have to go check up on Connor.

  The noise continued and l heard Connor's voice again.

  "Goddamnit! He cussed and l rushed out.

I ran all the way to the leaving room.

    I halted as l saw Mrs Braxton, Barbara, Connor, the unknown man and a fake blonde staring at me.

Barbara, Mrs Braxton and the blonde were giving me a wierd look.

   "Here she comes" the blonde said and l blinked.

What's happening?

Why are they staring at me like am a criminal?

  Connor sighed and he run his hand through his hair in frustration.

His expression shows he his definitely tired from whatever argument they were having.

Wait, why is Connor here?

Isn't he supposed to be in bed recovering.

What kind of nurse am l?

Allowing my patient to be having a heated argument.

  "Hmm Connor how are you feeling?

Can you please go back to bed , l still have to attend to you, you are not supposed to be here" l said staring directly at him.

   "Come with me Daniella" Connor said and stretch his hand to take mine.

"Don't you dare" Mrs Braxton said and the blonde chuckled.

I stood frozen on the spot.

"Mom please stop this" Connor said feebly.

"Hmm, l will go get your medicines" l said in an attempt to leave.

"Stop right there you troll" Someone said and l turned to see the fake blonde glaring daggers at me.

"Connor why did you employ a commoner, she might pass you some kind of disease or something."

"Shut up Brielle" Connor said to the blonde and she kept quiet.

"Mom please leave, am tired of arguing, it's my house, she stays and that's final" Connor said and took my hand and turned to leave.

 So l'm the reason for the argument.

"Wait! Mrs Braxton said and we turned to look at her.

"I know you hate going to the hospital,l will send a doctor over, you have to be treated properly not some quack treatment."

"Am fine mom, thanks for your concern" Connor said and kissed her forehead.

"You have to leave, l won't tolerate you staying here, l hate your guts" the blonde spat out and Connor glared at her.

"Aunt she has to leave, look at her, she is too curvy what if she's here to seduce Connor" she said and l rolled my eyes.

"You see it aunt she just rolled her eyes at him."

  "Let's leave Brielle, l will handle this" Mrs Braxton said and the blonde gave me one last look before leaving.

  I released the breath l didn't know l was holding.

Connor left immediately and l was left with Barbara.

"Hello commoner"she said mockingly but l ignored and walk past her heading to Connor's room.

  I got to Connors room and knocked gently.

 "Come in" he said.

I entered swiftly and saw him lay on the bed with his eyes closed.

"Am sorry l slept off before you recovered."

"How you feeling?"

"How is the injury, does it still hurt?"

"Am fine Daniella, thanks for taking care of me" he said.

"It's my duty" l said and his face turned pale.

"Connor are you okay?" Are you feeling pains?" I asked worriedly.

"Am fine" he said.

"Can you please help me take this off?"

He said and pointed to his shirt.

How did he put it on in the first place?

I started to unbutton his shirt slowly and anytime my hands brushed his skin, l can feel him tense up a bit.

"Are you okay? I asked and he nods.

I pulled off the shirt gently and my eyes were greeted with his broad chest and well toned skin.

I gawked at his body in admiration,l wish l can run my hands through them.

  I was really disappointed when she said it was her duty to take care of me.

   I watched as her eyes roamed my body.

   "Daniella! I called and she flinched.

So much for having a nice body l muttered but l think she heard as her face turned red.

  "Come here."

"Huh!"

"Come closer Daniella."

"You mean l ........ Should come closer?"

She said and flipped her lashes repeatedly.

Goddamnit! Is she trying to seduce me, am so turned on by that simple act.

She started taking slow strides towards me.

She sat gently and l smiled

She looked like she was fighting a million battle within herself.

  "Look at me" l said and she stared at me shyly.

 "Help me take this off" l pointed to my earrings.

He has two piercings on both ears she murmured but l heard it.

  "You don't like them?" I asked.

"No! I was just saying it looked good on you? " She said and chuckled.

  "You mean l look good" l teased and her face flushed.

"Don't l look good Daniella?"

 "Yes you are beautiful" she said and covered her mouth quickly like she said something f*******n.

"Am a guy Daniella."

"Yes l mean you are cute."

  "Just cute?” l asked.

  "Goergous, pretty and sexy."

"Pretty and sexy" l said and chuckled.

    "No l didn't mean it that way l.......

"It's okay Daniella l get it am pretty and sexy" l said and winked at her.

Why are you not wearing earrings?

I don't like women with bare ear?

"Really" she asked and her face fell.

"I will get one today" she said and l laughed.

"You want to wear it for me?" I asked.

"No l don't just want you to dislike me."

"Really? I can never dislike you Daniella."

  "Turn around" l said and she obeyed.

"I collected the earrings from her and wore it on her ear."

"Now you look pretty and sexy" l said and her face flushed.

"Thanks Connor" she said.

"Not accepted."

Huh!

"What should l do?"

"I need a Peck on the cheeks "

But l .....

   "Just give me a Peck Daniella."

       Okay Daniella, you can do this.

I said inwardly.

   I moved close to him and stared at him shyly.

  "It's just a Peck Daniella or you were expecting more than that" he asked.

"No l will do it now" l said and my lips landed on his cheeks.

I froze in place, and my lips remained on his cheeks.

What am l even doing?

Who pecks someone this long?

I pulled away slowly and a smile curved on his lips.

   "You did great, l have something for you " he said and got up.

  "Wait Connor, hmmm l want to tell you something."

"Okay" he said.

This is it l feel extremely nervous when around him.Am not myself when am around him.

The bold and daring Daniella is gone when am a bit close to him.

"Daniella, am listening" he said jolting me from my thoughts.

   "I want to go see my mom at the hospital, l said fiddling with my fingers."

"It's fine Izzy, you can go see her."

"Izzy!

    "You don't like it?"

"No it's just that is only my mom and best friend that calls me Izzy."

"But it's fine if l call you lzzy, or do you want me to call you pretty and sexy?"he said and l blushed hard.

    "No you can call me lzzy" l said and he smiled.

"Okay lzzy, l will tell my driver to drop you off at the hospital."

"Thanks Connor."

"I have something for you" he said and left then came back mintues later.

"Here, you can open it."

I opened it and gasped.

     Connor!

"You don't like it."

"My goodness! l love it" l squealed.

    From what l heard this phone cost more than 300,000 dollars, much better than the type Wyatt bought for me.

I felt guilty all of a sudden.

I shouldn't have collected a phone from Wyatt.

   How will l tell him, his brother got me a phone already?

  "If you don't like it, l can get you another one" he said probably because of my silence.

"I love it Connor, thank you so much but this is too much, am just…………

"Shush" he said and placed his finger on my lips.

"You are not just anyone Daniella, soon enough you will know what you mean to me, now go get dressed you have to visit your mom remember."

 "Yes thanks Connor."

    I stood to leave.

"Wait you can't just live like that."

     He got up and walked towards me without breaking eye contact and l closed my eyes.

His he gonna kiss me?

For some unknown reason l was excited and l felt his lips land on my cheeks.

 Holy hell! He just gave me a peck! I stood frozen to the ground and was slightly disappointed.

  I was expecting more than that.

What am I even thinking?my Head is so f****d up right now.

"You can leave now" he said and l scurried away.

I ran to my room and stared at my reflection in the mirror, l kept touching my cheeks repeatedly, why does he have this kind of effect on me?

I took one last look at the phone and again l stood in awe.

     This phone cost so much and how could he waste so much on me, am just his nurse right?

Keep your thoughts together Daniella, l scolded myself .

I dressed casually and l tyed my hair in a messy bun.

I came out of my room and met Barbara in the living room.

"And we're is the commoner going?" She mocked.

  Breathe Daniella don't let it get to you

I mentally scolded myself.

  I ignored and left the house slamming the door hard.

The chauffeur was already waiting for me.

  I got in the car and we headed to the hospital.

I was feeling elated, l missed mom alot and am excited l will see her soon.

After the long drive we arrived at the hospital.

  I entered the ward and found Ariel and mother chitchatting.

"Mom! Ariel! I called and they turned to see me and squealed excitedly and Ariel came and engulfed me in a hug.

"Ariel l can't breathe" l said and she let go of me.

  I walked up to mom who was watching the scene and smiling brightly.

"Mom l missed you l said and pecked her on both cheeks."

"I miss you more my dear, how are you doing, is the job okay? How are you coping?"

"Mom, enough of the questions okay,as you can see am perfectly fine" l said and she smiled.

"I got a new phone too, we can communicate frequently from now on" l said.

"That's good Daniella, am so proud of you my dear"

"You got a new phone, where is it?" Ariel asked curiously.

I winked at her to shut the hell up, because l don't want my mom to know about the Braxtons, at least not now.

"Mom, how are you feeling?" I asked.

"Never been better" She said and l smiled in relief.

"Ariel thank you for taking care of mom" l said.

  "Don't mention, l gat your back" she said and l smiled.

After spending sometime with Mom and Ariel, l went to the doctors office.

I knocked gently.

"Come in" he said and l entered.

    "Good day sir" l greeted.

"Daniella, how are you doing?"

"Am good doctor, please how is my mom's health?"

   "She is recovering fast but she still has to stay for a long time like l said before the treatment takes up to two years but since she is responding fast to treatment l can guarantee she will be fine in a year."

"A year? "

"Alright doctor please take good care of her, please you know she is the only one have got."

 "I will Daniella, it's my duty."

"Thanks doctor" l will leave now.

        After leaving the hospital,l told Connor's driver to take me to FRENDI

Restaurant.

That place is way too classy for someone like me.

I told the chauffeur to wait for me in the car.

 I got down and entered the restaurant, it was already six ten pm.

   Have already made up my mind to reject Wyatt's proposal.

I just came here to say thank you and that's all.

"Over here ma'am" a lady said and took me to seat at the extreme.

I sat quietly staring at the restaurant, have passed by this place severally but never got in, never knew it was so beautiful and well decorated.

   "Daniella" l heard the familar voice, and l lifted my head and my eyes met his.

 He was dressed casually wearing a hoodie, l guess so know one will recognize him.

  "Good evening Sir" l greeted as he settled on the seat opposite mine.

  There is something about him, that makes me uncomfortable.

   He has this dangerous aura around him.

"Stop being formal Daniella, thanks for honoring my request."

  "I should thank you instead, am grateful for the gift you got for me."

"Thank you very much."

"Don't be too polite Daniella, you sold your phone because of my brother, it's not a big deal."

  "You must really love your brother" l said he chuckled.

 "Yes Daniella l love him, he is my brother l should love him" he said nonchalantly.

"You work for Connor now?" He asked and l nod.

"How interesting."

"Am sorry but l can't accept your request" l said and he chuckled again.

"Don't be Daniella, you clearly choosed Connor over me.

"Let's not spoil the mood" he said and ordered the waiter to bring some wine.

   "Drink Daniella."

"Thanks,but l don't drink,am allergic achol" l lied.

"Oh l see!

"I want us to be friends Daniella."

"Friends?"

"Yes friends, l don't bite miss Abby, l just want us to by friends that's all" he said and stretch his hand to take mine.

"Hmm friends, yeah friends" l agreed and took his hand.

"Thanks Daniella."
