8:00, I walk into the office surprised to find Meira waiting for me, as usual she is wearing a very short dress. As far as I am concerned, Meira and I don’t have any meeting scheduled for today.

‘’Good morning.’’

‘’Morning sweetheart.’’

‘’What are you doing here?’’

‘’Is that a way to welcome your future wife?’’

‘’What is wrong with you Meira?’’

‘’I missed you, you haven’t been responding to my messages.’’

‘’I am a married man Meira and I have made it clear there can’t be anything between us.’’

‘’You know I am willing to be your second wife.’’

‘’I don’t even want a second wife, I love my wife.’’

She laughs, ‘’that woman is not even good for you, she is talkative and all over the place.’’

‘’Meira please leave, you already put me in problems with Kristy.’’

‘’She got upset?’’

‘’Yes.’’

She laughs, ‘’Wow! She should get ready for me because I am not backing down.’’

‘’Please leave.’’

She stands up, ‘’I will be back sweetheart, I am not giving up on you.’’

And with that she walks out of the office, as soon as she leaves, I call my secretary and warn her not to allow Meira into my office when I am not around. After that I get started with work, I have a few reports to work on before I leave for lunch, I am having lunch with Jada this afternoon, she called me and asked if we could and talk about Kristy.

‘’Thank you for agreeing to meet up with me Daniel, I really appreciate and I won’t take much of your time,’’ says Jada.

We are sitting opposite each other having lunch. I came out to meet her because she requested to see me.

‘’You are welcome.’’

‘’How is your wife?’’

‘’She is fine, how is your husband and baby Else?’’

‘’They are both fine, Else is growing up so fast and being naughty, you and Kristy should get her for the weekend.’’

‘’We will, I am sure Kristy to have her in one of her vlogs.’’

She smiles, takes a sip of her juice and asks ‘’How are things between you and Kristy?’’

‘’Things have been rough for the last couple of days, she hasn’t been talking to me.’’

‘’Why? Because of Meira?’’

‘’She told you about Meira?’’

‘’Yes, she was so bitter about the fact that she found you drinking with that woman in your office.’’

‘’I was not even drinking with her. Meira brought that bottle of wine for herself and she was drinking while we discussed. There is absolutely nothing between the two of us, I respect Kristy and I would never do anything to jeopardize this arrangement. I have been trying to apologize to her for what happened but she keeps pushing me away.’’

‘’I want you to tell me the truth Daniel, what do you feel for my friend? Is this still business as usual?’’

She is intently looking into my eyes, I can’t afford to lie to her, ‘’I think I have broken the rules, I have fallen in love with Kristy. I just don’t know if she feels the same about me that’s why I have never mentioned anything to her.’’

‘’Are you perfectly sure you are in love with her?’’ That girl has been through a lot already, I don’t want her to get hurt again.’’

‘’I love her, I didn’t even plan for this to happen it just did.’’

‘’Kristy loves you too and I think she is pregnant.’’

‘’What?’’ I shoot her a serious look.

‘’You need to talk to her, you need to convince her that you are in love with her too, I am sure she will open up to you.’’

‘’But she has been on contraceptives, did she tell you that she is pregnant?’’

‘’She didn’t have to mention it, I am a woman- a mother for that fact, I know a pregnant woman when I see one.’’

‘’Wow!’’ I exclaim trying to process everything that Jada is saying.

‘’’Kristy would kill me to know that I am telling you all this but I trust you and I like you for her. I like the person that she is when she is with you, Kristy just needs a little bit of love for her to be sane again. Because of what her father did Kristy has built walls up to protect herself from going through what her mother went through. If you are going to start something real with her, you will need to be patient because it will not be easy for you to break down those walls, it will take some time- walls don’t just come down without a fight. Some days she will love you, some days she will shut down and all but---.’’

‘’I understand what you are saying and I am ready to fight for her and prove that I love her.’’

‘’I knew I could count on you, please don’t hurt Kristy, please.’’

‘’I promise I won’t.’’

‘’Also make sure she sees the doctor so she finds out if she is pregnant or not.’’

‘’Kristy can be stubborn but I will try my best to get through to her.’’

‘’There is a soft and nice person behind that stubbornness.’’

‘’I know right.’’

We finish eating and I settle the bill before we walk out.

‘’Child! Are you okay? You don’t look so good,’’ Daddy P asks, giving me a cautious look.

I am sitting in his office giving him a progress report on some of the current projects that my department is working on.

I have been feeling sick for the last couple of hours and I keep pretending to be okay, I have such an agonizing headache, I can hardly bear to open my eyes. I don’t even know what’s happening because I was okay in the morning.

‘’I have headache but I will be fine soon.’’

‘’You don’t look fine, I think you should go home and rest, better yet let me tell the driver to take you to the hospital.’’

‘’No I think I just need to rest.’’

‘’Okay, I will tell the driver to drop you home, I don’t think you should drive. I don’t expect you to be here tomorrow either, if you feel sick, take that much needed rest.’’

‘’Thank you.’’

I grab my things and head out, the driver opens the door for me and drives off. When I get home, I run straight to the bathroom and throw up the contents of my stomach. I really don’t know what’s happening here but maybe I have been overworking myself. I hope if I stay in bed and take it easy for the rest of the afternoon, I will feel better.

Sighing heavily, I change into my pajamas and slide under the covers, I take a short nap and wake up an hour later to watch a movie. I don’t know why but I have a monster craving for chicken wings so I send Daniel a text and tell him to get them for me on his way home. I am still keeping my distance from him but at this moment I need his help.

‘’Hey, are you okay?’’ He asks when he walks in a couple of hours later. ‘’Jessie told me you came home at 14.’’

‘’Daddy P sent me home because I got sick.’’

‘’How are you feeling?’’

‘’Better now, where are my wings?’’

‘’In the kitchen.’’

‘’Please bring them for me.’’

He walks out and returns moments later with a plate with the kitchen wings and he places it on a table beside me.

‘’Thank you so much,’’ I respond and instantly dig in.

No doubt these wings taste divine, I eat too rapidly and request for some more and Daniel brings them for me. When I finally finish the second plate, I feel content.

‘’Thank you so much.’’

‘’Stella!’’ he calls my name in a serious tone and I look up, ‘’Yes.’’

‘’Are you pregnant?’’

‘’What? Why do you all think I am pregnant?’’

‘’I don’t know, I just wanted to know.’’

‘’No I am not, you know I have been taking birth control pills.’’

‘’But they are not hundred percent accurate.’’

‘’Daniel, I am not pregnant.’’

‘’How can you be so sure?’’

‘’I know myself.’’

‘’How about we go to the hospital and get tested so you can prove me wrong.’’

‘’Fine! Let’s do that,’’ I angrily respond.

I will do this test not because he asked me to but because I am tired of everyone thinking I am pregnant because I have gained a few kilos.

‘’My daughter told me you can help us break that thing Kristy calls a marriage,’’ Kenzie’s mother says, we are sitting at a restaurant having lunch, she picked Kenzie and I from the office so we could talk. I got the job at Sondashi Inc. Kenzie and I are actually very good friends at the moment just the way I wanted things to be. Apparently her mother hates Kristy as much as I do.

‘’Yes, I want to get my man back from her.’’

‘’And how will you do that?’’

I start to narrate the plan to them while they listen attentively and when I am done, Kenzie smiles, ‘’that could work.’’’

‘’I am sure it will.’’

‘’When do you intend on starting with the plan?’’

‘’I will do that soon.’’

‘’I want that girl broken to pieces, I want her destroyed to a point where she doesn’t go back to social media.’’

‘’It’s done.’’

‘’Good.’’

Daniel and I are sitting in the doctor’s office waiting for the results of the test that was performed on me a few minutes ago. I am typing away on my phone while he keeps walking back and forth. I don’t understand why he is so nervous. I am not even pregnant, I have been taking my birth control pills for a couple of years and they have never disappointed me.

When the doctor finally walks back in, Daniel stands and faces her, ‘’what are the results?’’ he asks.

The doctor smiles, ‘’congratulations, your wife is one month pregnant.’’

‘’I am what?’’ I shot her a surprising look.

‘’You are pregnant madam,’’ she smilingly says.

‘’It’s not possible, those results are wrong.’’

‘’Are you sure she is pregnant?’’ Daniel asks.

‘’Oh, I am sure,’’ she responds.

‘’OMG!’’ Daniel exclaims before he pulls me into his arms and embraces me. ‘’We are going to be parents babe, we are going to be parents,’’ he excitedly says. I don’t even know why he is excited, we are not even a real couple and this complicates everything.

‘’Doctor how is it possible that I got pregnant even when I was on birth control pills?’’ I worriedly ask because I still believe there is a mistake somewhere, how could I even be a month pregnant, I haven’t experienced any signs.

‘’Please take a seat,’’ she says and we do as she says because I need some answers.

‘’To answer your question, birth control pills are 99.7% effective ways of preventing pregnancy meaning that less than 1 out of 100 women who take the pills are likely to become pregnant.’’

‘’And I had to be that one woman out of the hundred who have been taking them?’’

‘’I guess so and maybe you got pregnant because you didn’t use them perfectly.’’

‘’What is that even supposed to mean?’’

‘’Perfect use means taking the pills at the same time every day without missing a dose.’’

‘’Oh God why now?’’

‘’So what now?’’ Daniel asks, ‘’Will the pills she has been taking affect the baby in anyway?’’

‘’Well, birth control pills have shown to be safe in early pregnancy but there’s no guarantee can be made that the pills haven’t affected the baby’s development. Research also shows that being pregnant while on birth control increases your risk of ectopic pregnancy so you need to stop taking the pills.’’

‘’Thank you doctor.’’

‘’You are welcome.’’

Daniel asks a few more questions before we leave the hospital and drive back home. When we get home, we head straight to the bedroom, sitting on the edge of the bed, I close my eyes and try to process everything that the doctor has said.

‘’We are going to be parents,’’ he says breaking the silence.

‘’I can’t be pregnant, this wasn’t part of the plan.’’

‘’Forget about the plan babe.’’

‘’Why are you even calling me babe?’’

He stares at me intently, his gaze piercing through me, ‘’because I love you.’’

‘’You what?’’

‘’I love you Stella Msizi.’’

‘’Me?’’

‘’Yes.’’

‘’Are you saying this because of the pregnancy?’’

‘’No

‘’You don’t have to be with me because of this baby.’’

‘’I should have told you this some time back.’’

‘’Why didn’t you?’’

‘’I was scared you didn’t feel the same for me.’’

‘’What has changed?’’

‘’Because I know that you love me as well.’’

‘’What makes you so sure that I love you?’’

‘’I just know.’’

‘’I don’t love you Daniel.’’

‘’I know we started on bad terms but I don’t want this to end, can we please start again?’’

‘’My father---.’’

‘’You are scared I will hurt you like he did to your mother? I am not him Kristy and I would never hurt you, give us a chance.’’

‘’You love me?’’

‘’I am so ridiculously in love.’’

‘’I don’t know what to say, I don’t even know what I am feeling anymore and with a child on the way everything is complicated.’’

‘’I know but please give us a chance, open up to me and allow me to love you, if it doesn’t work out, then I will allow you to leave but you have to give it a try first and you have to trust that I will take care of you and our baby.’’

I look at him and a starburst of emotion expands inside me, there’s nothing but silence for the next couple of minutes, he leans in and his mouth touches mine, he kisses me so gently, my heart begins to melt and I feel tears begin to prick behind my eyes. Jada was right, I love Daniel, that’s why I got upset when I saw him with that Meira woman, I can’t afford to see him with another, I want him all to myself but what if he hurts me? What if he leaves me like Mr. Msizi left my mother?

‘’’I will not hurt you,’’ he whispers as if reading my mind.

He continues to kiss me as the minutes fade away, there is something about the way he is kissing me today I think he is talking to me with his kiss- assuring me he loves me and he will not hurt me.

Deepening the kiss, he pulls down the zipper of my dress and I let it drop and step out of it. Next I help him out of his shirt and pants and when we are both n***d, he pulls me closer to him again. Putting my face into his throat, I breathe him in then I close my eyes and beg my heart to open up and allow Daniel to take care of it.

‘’Lights, camera, action!’’

Daniel holds my hand in his and gently squeezes it and a smile of fulfilment beams across my face.

‘’Good morning! Welcome to our live stream!’’ I have been receiving a lot of messages on f*******: & i********:, you all have been wondering why we have been quiet for the last couple of weeks, well my husband and I have some news,’’ Daniel and I exchange knowing glances before excitedly say, ‘’We are pregnant!’’

‘’The pregnancy came through as a surprise but my husband and I feel so blessed and we are so happy for the addition to the KL family, this is going to be such an exciting journey and we can’t wait to share every step of the pregnancy with you,’’ I say.

‘’Guys, this is the biggest blessing of our entire life, we are grateful that our family is literary growing,’’ Daniel adds.

After the announcement, we read the comments and respond to messages before finally ending the video.

So Daniel and I talked, we agreed to give our marriage a chance, we are taking things one day at a time. The last one week has been amazing, Daniel has been great, we went out the other day and bought some clothes for the day, decorations in the baby’s room are underway, I plan on doing a nursery room tour next month.

Rising to my feet, I stretch and yawn loudly, ‘’Babe, I think I will go and take a nap, I feel so tired.’’

‘’And what do you want to eat for lunch?’’

‘’A couple of things,’’ I smile.

‘’There’s nothing I can’t make available for you so give me your list.’’

‘’I want strawberry yogurt and mangos plus some hot chicken wings, don’t forget the muffins and honey for desert.’’

‘’Your wish is my command wife of mine.’’

‘’Thank you father of my unborn child.’’
