Leia’s POV
After training I showered and headed to my mom’s office. The plan was to ask my mother about going shopping with Jewel. My plan is derailed when as I walk to her office I see Jewel storming out of my father’s office with James running behind her trying to get her to talk to him. My mother walks out behind them and greets me. “Leia what do I owe the pleasure.”
“Mom, I wanted to talk to you can we go into your office?”
She nods as she opens the door for me. “What can I help you with today?”
“What I wanted can wait I am curious are James and Jewel going to be okay? I have never seen a fated mate pair fight as much as they do.” I really like Jewel and feel like she understands me but I am starting to be really concerned their match is a mistake.
“They will be fine. They are both just very headstrong and have some hurdles to overcome. Jewel is very much like you. In fact her mother Joanna and I are friends and as you girls grew up we would compare how much you both tested us. Well now Jewel will be testing your brother’s patience instead of her mom’s. Let’s be honest though. As much as James thinks that he wants a docile Luna who will accept everything he says without question I know that would eventually bore him. He needs a strong Luna to stand up to him when he is wrong, to challenge him, to make him listen. The goddess knew exactly what she was doing when she matched that pair.”
“Mom do you think the goddess ever makes mistakes in her mate pairs?” I ask suddenly more fearful of meeting my mate.
“I fully believe that even when it may appear to others that she made a mistake that the goddess had a reason for the mate pairs she matches up. She knows things that we do not know and plans accordingly. So do not worry my love when you meet your mate he will be exactly who you need to be with for whatever reason she has.” Mom wraps me in a hug after her explanation. I can only hope that she is right.
“I wonder mom if it would be better for me with my goals to take a chosen mate, someone who understands my desires and supports me.” I ask broaching a subject I never thought I would have the nerve to ask.
“You are much to young to worry about that my darling. If your mate is not a member of the pack, which he likely won’t be, then you will have plenty of opportunity to meet him before you should worry you won’t meet him.” I should have known mom would think my fear of my mate not being supportive into a fear I won’t met him this does give me an option that if I can just avoid meeting my mate then maybe when I am older I can get my parents to accept that I have chosen a mate. This maybe my best solution. Now I just need to make sure I don’t met my mate before then.
“So what did you originally want to see me about?”
“Jewel mentioned she wanted to go shopping. I was thinking maybe we could go to the mall in town for some shopping, lunch and girl time. We have invited Case and Joni to join us. Maybe you could come and maybe we can get to know Jewel better without James around to frustrate her.” I ask. I admit I am laying things on a little thick in hopes she will not want yo say no.
She smiles it must have worked. “That is a great idea. I know Jewel needs to do a good bit of shopping. It seems most of her wardrobe your brother deemed not fitting for a Luna or some such nonsense. So she only brought a few things with her. Are you up for a challenge?”
Oh boy my mom knows that I hate shopping for clothes that I call display clothes but that sounds like what my brother wants his new Luna to buy. “Not really but it will be a great way to get to know my new sister.” I reply to my mom honestly.
“Great I will mindlink your father and brother. You get the girls together and we will get going. Why don’t we have lunch in town as well so we have some more time to just talk. Also maybe we can find a way that Jewel can mesh her personality and style into a wardrobe your brother won’t have an meltdown over.”
“Mom I think you expect miracles.” I can’t help but laugh. My mom is always so optimistic I wish I had that aspect of her personality.
“I do believe that we are up to the challenge. We are strong women we can take in anything even the men in this family and the mall.”
I am really trying not to laugh to hard at her. My mom is amazing. I came in here worried and upset and now she has me in a great mood.
“While we are at it we should get outfits for your birthday. It could be a big day for you.” And there it went. Now with one comment I am now back to worrying another reminder that my destiny awaits even though I don’t want that path.
I try to smile to hide my struggles from my mom. “Yeah good idea mom. I will get the girls and see you at the cars in about five minutes.”
I mindlink Casey and Joni to meet us out front and set off to find Jewel. I can’t mindlink her yet as she has not yet officially joined the pack. I go to my brother’s suite as I am sure that is where she would be. As I go to knock James opens the door. “Mom let me know of the plan Jewel is getting ready.”
I can’t help but notice his hair is messed up and he has a smudge of lipstick on his lips.
“I guess it is safe to say you two made up.” I tease him.
He smiles. “When you meet your mate and feel that mate bond you will understand kiddo.” He tells me. That is exactly what I am afraid of. I don’t have time to reply when Jewel steps out.
“Let’s go” she says as she grabs my hand.
“Jewel wait” my brother stops her. He hands her his credit card. “Have fun.”
She smiles and replies “see you at dinner.” With that we head off downstairs to met my mom and friends.
