Chapter Three

“So you’re telling me that you have been handpicked by the Alpha’s only son to train as a Interior Guard within 2 months and go to College alongside him. You will attend the parties etc and guard him there but you will be pursuing your own studies in Agriculture funded upfront by the pack and pay back the pack funds….” Stella was screwing her face up at her sister. Why Alla, she wasn’t a fantastic fighter. She could hold her own if she had to but Stella genuinely didn’t know if when push came to shove that Alla would have it in her to end someone else’s life. There had to be more to it than that. Alla sipped her water, she had come straight to Stella’s to discuss Tristan’s proposal. She could tell Stella was as confused as she was why they had picked her, unless her suspicions on Tristan being her possible mate were founded, but how would they know. As her train of thought meandered through the possibilities she was unaware of Stella’s continuous chatter going back over and over the offer trying to figure out what was going on. “I think that went well”, Tristan said to his Mother as he sat back down and drank down his red concoction. He had checked the coast was clear so that he could have an open and honest discussion with his Mother about Alla. They had already done the party line about him having to keep his hands to himself so any extra ears listening straight after the meeting would be none the wiser. “She is a smart girl with quiet confidence. Beautiful and comfortable in her own skin. I really like her” Luna Tilly remarked to her Son. “I felt the draw Mum, the Witches vision is right, I believe her to be my mate. We just need to wait until after my 18 Birthday in 2 weeks to find out. If the Witches vision comes true the future for Big River Pack is very bright. A wolf with extra powers is so rare. But I do feel bad, I feel like we should tell her something Mum. She is clearly confused as to why we have picked her out of the entire pack for this duty plus she is getting extra benefits that aren’t normally awarded to pack members” “You know as well as I do that until you are 18 and until she is confirmed as your mate if anyone else found out, if she is who we think she is, she would be in extreme danger of being kidnapped and force mated to someone else. I absolutely will not put her at any risk, as I wouldn’t for any of our pack members. She deserves our protection and support, if she is indeed your mate that is even more important.  But in the meantime it will do you no harm to follow through with the Interior Guard training it will allow you to build a friendship with her. If she turns out to be your mate she will be the next Luna anyway and will require to train with the Interior Guard for her own protection. If by some long shot she isn’t then I would still want her on your team. There is just something about her, she was ready to protect me when you came barging in and didn’t back down until she realised who you were. Now for a non – warrior Omega, she didn’t back down or shy away which is exceptionally rare.” Tristan smiled, these next four weeks were going to be a lot of fun, if Alla agreed that was. “I think I should go to a training session and get a feel for things”, Alla thought out loud. She kept circling round to the fact that she would be able to still help provide for her family while she was studying. Okay it wasn’t her first choice in topic for studying but she loved the farm. The thought that after this she could look for promotion on the farm or take on more responsibilities if she wanted to. She also felt that this would give her more options for her life with her mate, especially if her mate is from another pack. She pull she was feeling to Tristan she was putting down to lust nothing more nothing less. How bad could this training be as an Interior Guard given how fit and strong she was from working on the farm she felt she had a head start. Stella needed time to digest this offer for Alla but she definitely would encourage her to go and train. In her eyes you could never have enough training to protect yourself and the ones around you. “How about we go together for the Wednesday morning session. I can help run through things with you and introduce you to everyone??” “Sure I guess I should go and let the Luna and Tristan know that I want to try a session and then make a decision after that?” Alla got up from her seat to get started walking back towards the pack house. Stella was hot on her heels, she wanted to witness the exchange and see if she could find out a bit more to give a more solid reason as to why Alla. As Alla and Stella were walking through the woodland tracks Alla stopped dead in her tracks and turned wided eyed to Stella. Without a single word Stella knew she instinctively sent out a mind link to the Interior Guards including Beta Kirk “Rogues have infiltrated our perimeter and are on the South quadrant. Send a team to my location. Anyone able to fight close by please come. Alla and I will do our best to hold them off and turn them around estimating 15 rogues” Beta Kirk turned to Tristan, “s**t rogues in South quadrant approx 15 Stella and Alla are there they will hold them off the best they can” “Alla, f**k she can’t fight we need to get there”, Tristan was already running off the training ground as fast as he could even in his human form he was able to fight. Beta Kirk had shifted and was running flat out towards the South Quadrant. “Stay behind me, I should be able to hold them off help is on its way” Stella whispered. Alla quickly moved behind her sister as Stella shifted into her wolf form and waited for the inevitable fight to start. She had seen rogues before but never more two. She could sense them around her but she also knew that they hadn’t caught the girls scents yet as thankfully the breeze was blowing the wrong direction. Rogues generally weren’t as strong as a pack member and she knew she could fight one off if she needed to. She was more worried about Stella as she was a bigger target in wolf form for the Rogues to swamp and attack. Stella crouched low to the ground to try and hide her large wolf form to keep them hidden a little longer. She loved a good fight but with her sister there who still couldn’t shift yet plus a large number of Rogues she wanted to wait until backup had arrived and Alla would be safe. Alla bent down and picked up a large rock in one hand, kept crouched down then launched the rock sailing over the trees in the opposite direction from her and her sister to draw the rogues away and buy them a little more time. Stella understood immediately what Alla was doing and thanked the Moon Goddess that her little sister had a good head on her shoulders. “We aren’t far from you” Stella’s eyes glazed over as she received the mind link. Alla watched her sister as she went from crouching to standing full height. She could hear the Rogues a little in the distance but could also sense other wolves approaching fast. Stella didn’t want to give them the chance to escape. They needed to understand why so many rogues were together and had come so far into their land. She looked over her shoulder at her sister and nodded in the direction of the rogues. She put her head back and let out a loud rumbling growl as she dug her claws into the dirt and started speeding in the direction of the rogues. She was on top of the first few rogues within 20 seconds of her leaving her sister, wolf speed and stride meant she could cover ground swiftly. She grabbed the first rogue wolfs neck and shook it violently snapping its neck instantly. Just as she dropped that one she turned to catch another rogue in mid air jumping towards her back. She slammed the rogue into ground using its momentum against it as its head smacked off a large boulder killing it instantly. As she turned round she got sight of all the rogues, three had started heading back in the direction that she had come from. “Go to Alla they have her scent” Stella screamed in her mind link to Beta Kirk. Alla had already picked up another rock to use as a distraction and then took off climbing up the nearest tree. She knew it wouldn’t be long before they caught her scent so she thought she would outsmart them and head into the trees. She would be able to keep herself safe and out manoeuvre any rogues that came looking for her. As if on queue a few rogues burst into the clearing below snarling and looking around for her. The area would be flooded with her scent but they were smart enough to figure out that she was up high. She tried not to laugh at the 3 wolves circling below her clearly confused not being able to find her. She turned in the tree and launched the rock further away from the clearing to get them further away from the fight Stella was involved in. As the wolves took off Alla quickly dropped out the tree and started running towards the fight she could hear. As she got closer she slowed to try and keep herself concealed. She wasn’t sure what she could do but she knew she had to be with her sister. She spotted her sister’s unique tri coloured wolf standing surrounded by dead wolves. Clearly she had been busy and didn’t even appear to be out of breath. There were 5 rogue wolves that Alla could see circling Stella and one standing off behind them. It was dark red in colour and seemed to be bigger than the others. She felt a breeze behind her which carried her scent towards the circling wolves. As she looked back at her sister she could see her sister had caught her scent and was looking in her direction with fear in her eyes. She looked at the rogues and was completely unnerved to see that they had all stopped circling Stella and started growling looking directly at where she was hidden, the bigger red wolf barked an order and all 5 wolves made a move towards Alla. Stella roared and jumped on top of the nearest two using her claws to s***h at their backs. The other three had started running in her direction, Alla picked up a baseball bat sized branch ready to defend herself from the incoming wolves and stood up ready to engage. Just as she was taking a deep breath to steady herself a massive grey wolf jumped over her and straight into the three incoming rogues. Two more brown wolves charged in round her to help the grey wolf. She recognised Beta Kirk’s grey wolf and the brown wolves as Interior Guards. Quickly she looked over to Stella and could see that the Big Red Wolf was stalking behind her as she was finishing killing off the two rogues she had taken down. Alla started running full speed to beside Stella just as the red wolf pounced. Tristan arrived perfectly just as Stella swung the branch at the wolfs open jaw mid pounce. As the swing branch connected it caused the wolfs head to snap back as it lost all momentum and landed on its side in the dirt. It got up shaking its head snarling at Alla. Alla had already taken a protective stance next to her sister with her improvised bat slung over her shoulder ready to swing again. She slowly smiled at the wolf, “Look around you, you i***t. Your surrounded” The wolf stopped snarling and quickly realised it was surrounded. Alla hadn’t noticed Tristan standing there with the biggest grin on his face. The bushes started rustling behind Tristan, as he turned round the 3 returning rogues that had chased after the stone like puppies returned to see that their leader was surrounded by four wolves. They stopped looked at each other and decided that Tristan would be the first to be attacked. As they all leapt for Tristan at the same time Alla was shocked to see that none of the pack Interior Guard had made a move to protect him. Instead they stood watching. As she went to run towards him her sister stood in front of her and shook her big woof head to tell her not to go. Alla didn’t understand Tristan should be protected he doesn’t have his wolf yet, but no one was doing anything to save him? Quickly she started to understand as laughter filled the air from Tristan as he was fighting the three rogues. He was enjoying this and more than holding his own. She found herself watching in awe as he easily side stepped attacks and one by one picked off the rogues knocking them out. As the third body hit the ground Tristan turned to Alla, “So guess you will be playing for the softball team then” Alla blushed and dropped her chosen weapon on the ground. The red wolf was still emitting a low growl and bearing teeth at the wolves surrounding it. No one was reacting just making sure that it stayed where it was. All of a sudden there were at least 20 of the pack had arrived and started clearing the dead wolves to burn them. They also shackled the remaining knocked out rogues and the interior guards began escorting the red wolf back towards the pack lands. “Where did you learn to hit like that sis?” Stella was beside Alla in her human form pulling a dress over her naked form smiling from ear to ear. Alla studied her sister making sure there were no obvious injuries. Amazingly she was completely unmarked. Beta Kirk walked over in wolf form to the girls. Stella’s eyes glazed over again then he nodded at Alla as he turned and walked away. “Beta Kirk has asked for us to follow them back to the pack house to complete a report. He also said to tell you he was impressed with your batting skills.” Alla started following her sister and realised that Tristan was waiting for the girls. He was the only person from the short fight that had remained in human form, as he didn’t have his wolf yet. As they got nearer Alla remember that she had been going to find him to tell him she would try a training session. As they caught up to Tristan automatically the girls lowered their heads in respect to the future Alpha. Alla subtly looked over his body to make sure he hadn’t been injured. Amazed he had no injuries her face gave her away. “Alla are you alright?” questioned Tristan with genuine concern, “I am amazed both Stella and you are uninjured, not even a scratch?” Tristan burst out laughing. Stella managed to contain her laughter and smiled from ear to ear. Alla’s facial features clearly showed just how confused she was. “Why are you both laughing, I was worried you had both been hurt in the fight. Stella I came to help you out and I tried to help you to Tristan but Stella wouldn’t let me.” Alla felt a bit hurt by their reactions. She was already acutely aware that she didn’t know anything about fighting but she cared what happened to people that wasn’t something to be laughed at. Tristan was the first one to stop laughing, “I am sorry I didn’t think of it like that. You have never seen the training that we have to do so how could you know what our fighting skill level is” “Oh Baby Sis I am sorry, I really did appreciate you slogging that ugly red wolf though I did have my focus elsewhere” Alla found herself smiling remembering the look in the red wolfs eyes as the bat connected. He clearly didn’t think she would be capable of anything. Thankfully working on the farm made sure she was a lot stronger than people realised. “He was shocked that I could knock him flat on his ass. Could I please join a few sessions for the Interior Guard to allow me to better understand the work needed for your offer?” Tristan was listening intently, ”Absolutely. After that display today I think you might find fighting way more fun than you realise” Stella raised her head and looked square at Alla,"When the breeze turned they all stopped dead and looked at you. They moved their focus from me to you. Did you do anything to get their attention that I didn't see?" "No the breeze just shifted and then the next thing I knew I was getting ready to fight before Beta Kirk jumped in saving my ass" Tristan looked between the girls saying nothing and started walking back to the pack house. He was afraid if he said anything he might give information away that he wasn't ready to share yet. They continued the rest of their short walk back to the pack house in what appeared to be comfortable silence. Each caught up in their own thoughts. Stella couldn’t help but notice Tristan glancing to Alla as they walked along. Alla was completely oblivious and carried on watching where she was walking. Tristan couldn’t stop replaying over and over in his mind how quickly Alla had moved to Stella’s side, how smart she had been to use a tool to fight the wolves, how she had put what he guessed was possibly a Beta sized wolf on its ass with one swing of her improvised bat. More than this though he couldn’t deny the feeling of pride and admiration building towards Alla. His mother had been right. She had been fearless, gone forward into the fight, taken down the biggest wolf to protect her sister, been able to openly express her hurt when they had laughed at her without any screaming dramas and she was smart enough to ask for a trial at Interior Guard fight training. He was concerned though that these rogues had been sent for her. Mind linking Beta Kirk Tristan tried to keep the worry out of his voice to try to not give anything away "We need to find out why those scum were here. I have a feeling its to do with the girls Beta Kirk. Let me know when interrogations have begun" Alla definitely was smart, brave, intelligent, fearless and sexy as hell to top it all off. He found himself praying to the Moon Goddess that she would be his mate.
