/// All About ‘Party’ /// TWO FINN BRYTON “So, you’re going too, not?” Melanie asked as she fiddled her brown hair into a knot. Why does everybody I know so hyped up about some party?! “Actually no… I am not attending.” I stated as I stuffed my face with fries and knowledge of the Pacific Ocean. Suddenly my book was snatched by no one other than Bethany as she scowled my way and pouted, “You should go with, Finn!” “I got invited by a few of my middle school friends and I already promised them I’d go with them. it’s this Saturday too.” I said and she huffed. She knows I have other friends from my previous school, but I don’t want my friends now to meet my other friends… I am trying my best to see her point in all of this… I can’t find it. I grabbed my book back from her hands and reasoned with her, “Thanks for your invite, Beth. Drink and have fun on my behalf, then.” I smiled. “You can’t always dodge gatherings like this!” Melanie stated. “I can, and I did, end of discussion. Plus, I did say I am planning on meeting my old friends from my other school. I have friends besides you guys,” I said in finality, my words coming out harshly than I originally intended it to be. “Fine, but you owe us this time and not those people,” Bethany gave up as she slouched back on her chair. I couldn’t help but escape a sigh of relief, “I promise.” It sounded more of a plea than of a beg but Melanie and Bethany both rolled their eyes on me telling me that the conversation and argument was over but not forgotten. Women are seen to me as historical than hysterical anyways. The rest of our friends arrived loudly as they separated themselves from their other posse, “God, I so want to sit!” Benjamin groaned as he passed us with a pained expression. Melanie chuckled as she opened her arms for her boyfriend to reach, “Sit here!” She smiled. I rolled my eyes, “Yeah, Ben! Sit down we’re not depriving you to a chair, bro! God forbid,” I joked making Benjamin to give me a stink eye before turning to Melanie and have their own world for the rest of the period. I turned to look just in time for Jeffery to arrive holding to trays of food, each containing everything I like at the cafeteria. I snatched his bag of snacks and handed them to the girls. “Thank you for the food” I said as I munched on cheese bread. “Those are mine!” Jeffery screamed like a real girl making all of us laugh, catching some attention. We were used to be being this loud –Considering the fact that we are outside which was usually ALWAYS loud... My group and I merely blended in with the whole thing. Our group was different unlike the rest, who are grouped by similar interest –We weren’t alike in much besides being in the same grade, school, and neighborhood. Melanie my cousin and lives a few blocks away from me, she usually stays over whenever she felt like it or uses me as a scapegoat and excuse with anything boyfriend related. Bethany my friend since I transferred and Melanie’s direct neighbor as well as Jeffery’s cousin in his mother’s side. And Jeffery who lives farthest, his house situated at the topmost of our village with all the other rich and blessed bunch. Despite all this… We are all good and pretty much a solid group like everyone else’s. “Well... You could always share, Jeff. It isn’t going to be a sin if you do,” and I ate the last bit to make a point, he gasped in feign horror. “The definition of sharing is giving a portion of what you have, you know,” He said giving me a look. I shrugged and checked my phone, “Technically... Oh it does,” I said with a wicked smile on my face. That face of mine… Died too soon. “Jeremy!” Jeffery shouted trying to catch the attention of his cousin. He finally noticed Jeff’s frantic waving and glanced at Jeff and then looked at all of us, landing his eyes on me last. I wouldn’t say I wasn’t attracted to Jeffery’s cousin Jeremy because if I did say that… I know that one hundred percent of me would scream ‘LIAR’ to my face. But I wasn’t that keen with the idea of being his either, he just has this thing about him that makes him just oh so fuckable… if that is the only way to describe it in one word. I remembered that time… It was the summer of our freshmen year and I was out with my middle school friends hanging out when he suddenly called. I got the idea that he needed someone to talk to, so I left for his place and saw him by the pool in a sad daze. His dad’s only sibling and his aunt died in an accident, along with his cousin and uncle, Jeremy the only survivor of the remaining family members –Jeremy, who was away from his summer camp didn’t hear the news till his camp ended. He lost his entire family and was forced to manage his business which was difficult, so Jeffery’s dad stepped in and took him under his wing as well as trained him to inherit his family’s business. He is pretty much like Jeffery’s brother. He walked to us his hands waving at our direction in recognition, “Sup guys!” He greeted with a genuine smile. Jeffery waved him off, “Nothing really. Can’t I say hi to you at school?” He turned a little pink before shaking his head and laughed lightly. “You are wasting my time, cousin.” He crossed his arms. Everyone’s attention, including me went to his brother instantly. Jeffery sighed in frustration, “Did you hear about the party happening this Saturday?” I already know where the topic was headed so I looked down and continued to focus on my lunch. “Yeah... I heard uncle that he and auntie aren’t going to be home during that time, I also asked permission and they already said their approval… Unless you don’t allow me to go-” He said but was cut off by Jeffery who stood up and placed an arm on his shoulder laughing. If you just look and see, you’d probably believe and think that Jeffery and Jeremy are brother than cousin, with the way they speak and treat each other. Looks like a model relationship of siblings. “Why ask me this? Your friends and you aren’t going to Tommy’s?” he inquired looking at us with an unreadable expression. I suddenly stand making people notice me. I sat back down gently my friends and Jeremy’s attention at me, “We’re going. Were’ definitely going, do you want a ride there?” He smiled and shook his head, “No thanks, I appreciate the offer, but I oppose on you too much.” I waved him off, “We’re taking your brother there too, it’d be a waste of gas to have two cars take you separately. Might as well take you two together with me,” I explained. Jeremy looked at the group before turning back to me, “Uh –Err sure, why not? I see your point,” he smiled. I rolled my eyes as I flipped a page on the book I was pretending to read on, “Great, we will get you and your brother on Saturday.” “Thanks then, I’ll you see you guys later.” He said cheerfully as he waved goodbye and went back to his group. “I thought you said that you aren’t going, remember?” Melanie and Bethany pointed out as soon as Jeremy’s out of earshot. “So? I just want him to have a ride, doesn’t specifically mean I am going with him,” they rolled their eyes in disbelief before turning to Ben and Jeff. Melanie looked under the table and suddenly smiled, “I see your mini saying hello,” Melanie said, chuckling making Bethany laugh in agreement. I looked down to see my pants and see… Nothing. I glared, “Quit it, douchebags. I don’t have feelings for the guy.” “Made you look though,” She threw. I rolled my eyes, “Sorry it was probably because of some casual s*x I had a while ago, do you guys want the details?” I joked which made my friends roll their eyes. Bethany groaned and slumped, “Don’t remind me… I still remember that there was someone who caught us too.” It was no secret to my friends and I that Bethany and I have s*x occasionally, but they are just worried that we’d get hurt… We won’t because she is too in love with someone else and I am too afraid to fall in love again. Benjamin started to laugh, but stopped when Melanie slapped him in the back of his head, “It’s either you’re sexually frustrated or… Just plain horny.” I crossed my arms in thought as I leaned on the back of my chair, “Aren’t those the same though?” Jeffery waved us off, “I don’t think either of you are getting the bigger picture here! Are you not least bit worried for Bethany? Both could get in serious trouble if this s**t gets out,” I smiled at how his attitude changed immediately from one and the other. “It’s going to be fine… Besides, I already know who it was,” I smiled evilly. “I am curious to what you have in mind and scared shitless for whoever caught you guys,” Ben said. “Man, Mel. Your cousin sure is scary... Nerd or not,” Jeffery commented making Melanie nod. I laughed and leaned on the table just enough for my voice to just be heard from within our table, “Don’t they say that nerd are basically wolves in sheep’s clothing?” both boys shook their heads in answer. “Where and what movie?!” they exasperated in unison. “Ben, it’s called reality. Never let the glasses fool you,” I smiled He laughed and threw a ball at him. This repeated a couple of times, the speed and force exerted increased each time the ball was being passed around. Melanie crossed her arms almost resembling my mother, “Stop it already, you could get someone injured!” I turned to her and rolled my eyes, “We won’t get hurt, Mel. Plus, we’re big boys…” I drawled. “Finn your turn!” I wasn’t expecting the ball to pass me till it reached Bethany, I instantly deflected the ball making it to fly to the hallway. Roughly hit someone who passed by square in the face. I stand abruptly along with Ben, “f**k!” Melanie groaned and with an I told you so look on her face, “Someone got injured!”
