“Then you need to be careful,” Henry said lightly. “When I looked into it, I noticed Ann has someone behind her.”
I thought of the familiar figure I’d seen at the banquet that day.
“That wasn’t your imagination,” Henry said, like he’d read my mind.
That was when I noticed that his glasses were just frames. No lenses.
And his features were actually… fine. Really fine.
I didn’t know why he chose to style himself like this.
Maybe I stared too long, because he waved a hand in front of my face. “Keep looking at me and neither Adrian nor my boyfriend is going to let me live.”
My face heated up instantly. I stammered, “N-no. I just you’re so good-looking, why dress like that?”
Then I realized what he’d just said Adrian’s name. I panicked and added, “Adrian and I are just friends.”
