Chapter 6 — Leona’s POV
The phone buzzed against my nightstand for the third time that morning.
I rolled over, groaning as I pulled the blanket tighter around myself. My head felt stuffed with cotton, my eyes crusty with sleep, and my stomach had this weird churning I couldn’t quite explain. I hadn’t said much words, since that night.
The buzzing didn’t stop. Whoever it was, they weren’t giving up.
I reached blindly and answered without even checking the caller ID.
"Hello?" My voice sounded like sandpaper.
