Chapter 002: Oh! So, Monkeys Do Cook!

"Oh! Look at what we have here! If it isn’t my cousin the beggar.” A boy said with a condescending tone, this person clearly disliked David a lot.

David couldn’t help but be curious as to who it was, calling him cousin and then calling him a beggar!

Even though David knew his mother worked hard everyday, his family lived a very humble way of life.

The Franklin family on his father’s side was very wealthy and since his mother had divorced his father due to various reasonable facts, his mother and siblings were repeatedly humiliated and shunned for their lack of money and influence.

In this Earth, money and power were absolute and even though there aren't people who use magic or cultivate openly! There were people who fought and overwhelmed others with money and connections that had certain influences that could make things either very difficult or very easy in a persons life!

Once he saw who the boy was, David remembered why this cousin of his was so angry with him and couldn't help but be a bit embarrassed at his past ignorance and small minded choices.

"Kenneth, I'm not really in the mood to get into it with you.” David said emotionlessly, the reason Kenneth was looking for trouble simply didn't matter to David like it had the first time around.

”What do I care what your mood is like? Should I wait for you to be in the mood for a beating?” Kenneth threatened in a mocking tone as his lackies behind him laughed as if given a signal to do so.

”...” David simply ignored this cousin of his and his lame attempt at refuting his earlier remark calmly.

Noticing that the line in the cafeteria moved, David followed without giving Kenneth a second glance. David found this cousin of his to be quite the loser and decided to ignore his attempts at humiliating him, which only angered Kenneth more.

Seeing David ignoring him and acting so composed when Kenneth had seen his beggar of a cousin weep tears of shame everytime he picked on him, Kenneth couldn’t help but feel his anger increasing and reaching a state of rage.

”You dared to make a move on my girl, you still think I'm just going to let you go after doing such a disrespectful thing?” Kenneth said in a threatening and maniacal voice that seemed to make even his own lackies a bit uncomfortable!

Kenneth had a reputation of beating down anyone who annoyed him. The reason he had so many followers was really because he had a giant allowance that most of his lackies could only dream of.

This being the case, Kenneth has been controlling these envious buffoons with his money and influence as a member of the great and powerful Franklin Family.

David remembered that Kenneth had gotten cocky and waged war on a gang from another school, even with his money and influence a person whom Kenneth offended, someone that was gifted with talents that Kenneth had no clue or understanding of, and got beaten so bad his father had to waste a huge amount of cash so his son could have that ugly face reconstructed.

David sighed at the way they wasted so much money on something so stupid. In David’s opinion, Kenneth had gotten an upgrade to his usual dumbass face when he was beaten.

Right now, Kenneth seemed to have inherited his face from a fusion of a donkey and a buffoon.

But, for now, people feared his influence that could make most of these students become failures without any sense of a decent future.

Thanks to all of his money, these bunch of morons would even kill for this donkey-buffoon.

David truly didn't want to do anything. This is a children quarrel anyway and he was no longer a kid. Right now he has lived at least forty more years than this donkey-buffon cousin of his.

What actual reason does David have to beat a nobody to a pulp!?

What would people think of David if he beat a child to death?

Kenneth saw that David had no intention of facing him or kneeling to apologize!

This angered him so much that his anger evolved to blind rage in one fell swoop, as he extended his hand and grabbed David’s collar pulling him back in an attempt to make him fall and cause him some amount of humiliation.

Bam

But before he could actually do any damage, as soon as his hand grabbed David’s collar, the latter threw a punch that surprised everyone including Kenneth who always thought David was a coward who would never dare to respond to his reprimanding!

To think that the asshole actually laid his buffoon hands on David.

The fist David threw was sturdy, fast and unexpected. It was the perfect love tap to show Kenneth that David couldn’t be bullied.

After falling on his ass, Kenneth’s nose began bleeding like a small fountain. This made the crowd that had come to witness Kenneth humiliating David, completely silent.

They never expected David, who is constantly bullied, to actually strike Kenneth who has a high reputation at school.

Not to mention Kenneth’s father is someone who has greatly contributed to [Saints Devil High School] and has some authority, meaning that Kenneth’s father had the ability to pull some strings and get David expelled and blacklisted at every school in Elderstone.

Zoe, Kenneth’s girlfriend, who David had confessed to previously was also surprised.

As she saw David punch Kenneth without hesitation and with such strength her desire of seeing David pummeled to deaths door rose sharply.

After David confessed to her, she was disgusted beyond measure.

But, she acted like she would consider his confession and allowed David to think that she wasn't bothered by it just so that David didn't expect her to pit Kenneth who is logically stronger, against him.

Zoe walked out from in between the crowd and wanted to seduce David and then make everyone see how she rejected him thoroughly. This will surely humiliate David and cause people to laugh and mock him for the entire week.

”David, are you okay~?” Zoe asked surely placing her index finger in her mouth and with a slight blush that could make anybody fall for her.

The strange look of seduction in her eyes, as she tried to hide her hypocrisy behind words of concern.

Kenneth saw Zoe come out and speak with such a tone and quickly grasped her intentions. Smiling in a very scary way, happy to have such an extraordinary girlfriend, such loyalty was rare.

’That’s my girl! Make sure to make him regret humiliating me!’ Kenneth thought in his head as he slowly got up awaiting for Zoe to do her thing and watch the drama unfold as David wept with shame!

David had seen through these two nincompoops ideas and smiled with an expression of anticipation.

This is a good chance to fix something he had done very wrong in the past, this girl before him is ten times the trash that Kenneth is.

David couldn't believe that his past self was such a moronic tool and in such need of attention.

’Daring to seduce me? Attempting to humiliate me? Dream on!’ David thought, as his gaze towards Zoe grew heavier and with intensified disgust saying...

”Those words are full of s**t! Why don't you go and seduce someone with lower standards? That way, you might have a chance of trampling him after you show ’concern’ for him.

How disgusting can you be?”

David had seen countless women who were well developed on all areas. David had a deep liking of girls with ordinary sized boobs and a thick ass.

This girl was the definition of a flat board and was too undeveloped for his liking. Not to mention her attitude was not one a lady should have and gave David only a sense of disgust.

Also, her long and pointy nose spelled danger. If someone were to try and kiss this ugly which that nose would mercilessly impale and poke an eye out.

So many things were wrong about her physically, let alone her personality which was ambitious to a terrible extreme as she tried to manipulate his donkey-buffoon of a cousin and use him as a stepping-stone.

At the end of the day, this woman had zero appeal and even less potential than bird poop in David’s eyes.

A man would fall for this type of girl only if he had s**t for eyes!

Not to mention, David had been betrayed by so many women in the past, that he could now tell when he was being duped or manipulated.

Kenneth and Zoe were startled that David, who is usually narrow-minded, actually figured out their plan.

The crowd was also speechless, this David was so smart. Then why would he let himself get bullied all this time?

”If you have nothing else, scram!” David said in an overbearing manner that seemed to cause their hearts to shiver slightly.

Zoe’s eyes turned red as her anger began to rise so high that she could blow out steam from every pore on her body!

This was simply infuriating!

David who had recently made such a heartfelt attempt at wooing her, actually treated her like trash and with zero regards?!

Outrageous!

A peasant should kneel before a Queen!

Being Kenneth’s girlfriend for her meant she was dating someone of a prominent family with incredible wealth, Kenneth was destined to be a king and she would be his rightful Queen.

And yet this beggar dared to treat her with such a sharp tongue and hostility!? Actually asking her to scram?!

’Hm! Clearly this beggar has s**t for eyes if can't see how gorgeous and incredible I am, that he dares to speak with such coldness and hostility towards me.’ Zoe reassured herself after feeling a bit insecure after she saw how uninterested David was of her earlier.

Seeing the line move and that it was now his turn to go in and get his food, David lost all interest in this childrens quarrel!

As he went in, the crowd outside gazed at Kenneth who seemed to be about to erupt like a volcano which had held back for thousands of years!

Not only did David humiliate Kenneth who is greater than him, the beggar dared to humiliate his beautiful and loyal girlfriend?

Courting death!

”My father will hear of this and after that is bye-bye to school, you damned beggar. You will be expelled from school and be a nobody, just like your trash of a mother who was shunned from my family and sentenced to live a life of lackness!” Kenneth mocked and spoke gravely about David’s mother.

Hearing these words caused David to stop before grabbing a plate and his face darkened!

While David could ignore many things when it came to people trash talking him, he could not allow or pardon someone who spoke ill of his mother!

This is a taboo.

David turned around and got close to Kenneth, so close that their noses where touching. Kenneth also glared at David who stood so close that he could feel the latter’s breath, in a defying manner.

”You f*****g dare talk about my mother? Should a mediocre bug with no ’life experience’ and daddy’s money dare to speak ill of a Goddess!?” David felt his irritation reaching a dangerous level and after ending his words turned around and went back to grab a plate and eat.

He was about to commit a grave mistake. Luckily he has learned to control his outbursts which is a problem he has always had due to this very reason.

Kenneth was left standing in place, his whole body drenched in cold sweat. When David said those words, Kenneth felt a heavy pressure that threatened to break him apart if he moved an inch.

Also, he felt that David’s eyes turned colder than ice and felt that his cousin would definitely kill him without hesitating for a moment. It was truly terrifying.

Kenneth had never felt such killing intent from someone other than his big brother. It was so scary that he had an urge to pee his pants and go home to curl up on his bed and never leave, living a life where those eyes would never gaze at him again.

[End of School Day]

School ended uneventfully and David couldn't wait to go home and be with his family that he hadn't spent time with in so long.

Outside the school gates, an old red Hyundai Accent waited for him and Ariel. It was Claudia who had gotten off work early to pick them up.

Once they got in the car, Claudia raced to the house like wildfire followed behind her desperately!

She had a rough day at work. She needed to relax and rest, or she would go insane from the pressure that the people at her job constantly put her under.

David was looking forward to experimenting with his [God Star System], there were many things he wished to understand about it.

What person wouldn't be curious about such a fantasy coming true?

As he looked at his [Status Window] David felt a hint of expectancy. He had read many novels and played some games so he understood that having this [God Star System] meant he was chosen to become something that nobody else can even think of being in their whole life!

It was something that most light novel maniacs would regard as a change of fate, even more if they’re sent to the same life they lived with the ability to change destiny itself without too much hassle.

David was deep in thought as the car stopped in front of a Town Center called Elder Center where many stores and entertainment establishments were placed incredibly well to allow easy access to the masses.

Elder Center was a small place where some stores that people frequently visited had opened shop.

There were many types of stores, such as; clothing shops, general stores, a pharmacy and various fast food restaurants....

”Okay, you guys can go ahead and mingle! I will go to the pharmacy to pick up my refills.” Claudia told her two children in a very amicable way!

From young, Claudia had struggles with her mentality. She would go to a psychiatrist that would prescibe some drugs to help her mental strain and psychological issues to stabilize.

This was a sad thing, because Claudia had created an addiction when she started to rely on these pills for every little affliction her mind would encounter.

Even though she was able to overcome her addiction at some point in life, the struggle left her with many physical and mental ailments that affected her daily routines.

She ended up losing her job, friends and even some family from her side distanced themselves due to her hardships.

This truly frustrated David who wished he could help Claudia, but, now he might be able to and he will try as hard as possible to find a way to help her become so much better than she used to be in his past life.

”Okay, mom.” Ariel said with a gentle and caring smile on her face. This made Claudia feel very relieved and happy.

They all got off the car and David quickly spotted the store he used to hang out at for most of his past life when he was a kid.

It was an arcade shop called ’Witch Arcade and Game Shop’. He couldn't wait to revisit this spot, he had good memories there and wanted to go and try to relive a bit of his good moments.

”Don’t be clinging to me and don’t you dare cause trouble for mom. She already has had a bad day.” Ariel warned David, who seemed to feel quite pleased with this big sister who seemed to worry so much for their mother. Not to mention he was impressed that Ariel had noticed how their mother felt.

”...” with a smile and no words spoken David left leaving Ariel a bit dazed.

Ariel noticed that David had changed somehow. Her problematic little brother seemed to be maturing, was she imagining it?

’Why didn’t he retaliate like usual? Was his rebellious face over so soon...?’ Ariel couldn't help but feel a bit strange. Should she be worried?

As David walked towards the ’Witch Arcade and Game Shop’ his heart grew excited.

Even though this was an arcade that also sold the latest consoles and games in the market, it also had many of David’s favorite novels and mangas.

This was the main reason for his visit to this shop.

As he entered the ’Witch Arcade and Game Shop’ the sound of arcade machines like pac-man and don king kong or pinball could be heard everywhere.

There were also the sounds of bowling pins falling occasionally!

This was a place of hiding for David back in the day. In this place, he could truly relax.

There was also an area that resembled a food court where milkshakes, smoothies and pizza were sold.

The part that David truly wishes to be in was the reading area. This is the place where he spent some of his free time in.

As he walked in, David looked around at all the Light Novels and Mangas that were displayed, his heart throbbed with excitement as he walked over to the wall that held the greatest achievements of mankind, light novels.

Some of these he had finished reading till the end and had no intention of re reading since he did it a lot in his pastlife. This time, David wished to read those he never even gave a chance.

Grabbing one of the books David sat on a table in a corner that allowed him to see through the tinted windows, it was one side. Meaning that people could see outside from inside, but not outside to inside!

The table was low, almost on the floor, the reason for this is that the seats are actually comfortable and relaxing bean bags as soft as feathers but didn't completely sink in under the pressure of his weight which made it perfect.

As he began reading, the first interruption came suddenly....

"Hi, I think we go to the same school. Are you perhaps David from my class?” A girl asked while David had his eyes planted on the first page of this new Light Novel he had never read.

David didn't really want to strike a conversation in this sacred place where he came looking for peace and social distancing.

But, his memories jolted and he had a feeling this moment had happened before in his pastlife as well making it impossible to ignore.

David looked up and saw a girl who seemed 16 or 17 years old with long black, silky hair and blue eyes that seemed as clear as the pure water of a lake.

The way the girl smiled, showed her perfectly white teeth that would blind anyone in a ten meter radius. It seems like she had practiced this smile for a long time.

Not to mention her body had curves exploding from left to right. She was the perfect type of girl in David’s eyes.

David furrowed his brows as he thought ’Have I met this girl before? If I did, how could I have forgotten?’.

The girl seemed to feel that she had done something wrong and began feeling awkward as the silence stretched for about a minute.

Seeing the girl blush, David noticed he hadn’t answered her question and let out a small but honest smile before he said....

“Yeah, that’s me. My bad, I really don’t remember your name.”

The girl seemed to understand that David had been searching for her face and information in his head.

This was understandable!

Even though they had spent an entire high school semester together she never really introduced herself because David didn’t seem like an approachable guy.

When she saw David sitting with a gentle smile as he read a book, Naomi couldn’t help but rub her eyes as she saw that David was quite the looker.

His calm face that seemed as gentle as a cloud floating slowly through the vastness of the sky, his eyes focusing on reading the words seemed profound and filled with mysterious wisdom , deeper and more beautiful than the ocean itself and his tanned skin made everything pop out even more beautifully!

Also, David’s pose of laying back without any sort of stress and his perfectly positioned body being illuminated by the small rays of light that managed to seep through the cracks in the one side tint made him look celestial!

This guy is incredibly good at picking spots that make him look amazingly approachable!

That’s the reason why Naomi couldn’t avoid getting close to David. She had even forgotten to formally introduce herself.

How could this guy who everyone bullied and thought to be a loser make her so reckless and forgetful?

“I’m Naomi, Naomi Rao, It’s a pleasure to meet you formally David Franklin!” Naomi introduced herself without any shyness in her words.

Naomi’s words were filled with confidence and charisma. This girl is obviously used to being the center of attention in most places she goes to.

David couldn’t help but think that she must belong to a powerful family! He even dared to think that she was the daughter of a high ranked Mafioso with the way she carried herself.

“Such confidence, it’s a pleasure to meet Ms. Rao.” David said, his eyes had a mysterious glint that caused Naomi to feel curious about David’s thoughts.

The way David spoke caught Naomi by surprise a bit, such maturity and confidence that made her’s look like a pebble in a pile of boulders.

“No need to call me Ms or anything, Naomi is good.” Naomi told David showing a more humble attitude, she felt like she needed to watch her tongue near this guy.

‘He seems to see through me so easily.’ Naomi thought as she smiled impressed with David. David’s eyes made her feel naked.

She wondered why she never spoke to him, was she blind?

It was because of all the trash people spoke of David.

Today she learned, to not allow rumors to cloud her own opinion of people. Naomi now knows, she should meet someone before shunning them for what lesser people think.

“Alright, Naomi, is there something you need from me?” David asked, his expression hadn’t shifted, that mysterious glint felt like he could see her completely. Not to mention his small smile that caused her to feel a bit nervous causing her to blush.

“Nothing really. I-I j-just felt like I-I should approach you that’s all!” Naomi nervously said as she stuttered over words trying to watch her tongue.

After she was done speaking a black Escalade with deeply tinted windows stopped at the entrance of the ‘Witch Arcade and Game Shop’. It was like when the governor of this small town of Elderstone were to be picked up.

“Sigh, seems like Papá is here. Um, I guess I’ll be seeing you at school tomorrow David!” Naomi said expecting David to respond at least, but when she looked back after noticing the Escalade arrive, David had gone back to read his novel with full concentration, forgetting she was there.

Naomi smiles, and left without saying another word. She wasn’t angry, her urge to approach David had caused her to interrupt him and what seemed to be his relaxing time.

Instead, she wondered if David was angry for her interruption.

As she entered the Escalade, David’s gaze shifted to the S.U.V as it left.

‘Seems like I had gotten to meet a VIP in my past life but was too blind to notice.’ David thought with a smile as he then saw Ariel coming and closed the book, put it back on its shelf and left with his big sister.

[Elderstone - Freelead]

Looking at this small wooden house that seemed to be able to fit at most four people, David smiled happily.

Earlier when he first arrived back in this body and time of his life, David was too focused on the people and didn’t get a good look at this old home of his.

Even though it was built far from other houses due to its poorly constructed foundation and design that had countless flaws, people would lay their eyes on it but only to show signs of disgust.

David couldn’t care less now, but in the past he would give his mother a hard time when it came to this and their poor way of life, pushing Claudia to do all sorts of things in order to give her children a more suitable and comfortable life at the cost of her own health.

‘This time, I’ll be trying to do my best and allow mother to live the best life, the one she has always dreamed of!’ David thought as he entered the house.

Inside were tattered pieces of furniture, and some in good conditions.

Those were donated by the neighbors who lived in a modern and well built house made of concrete and other expensive materials a bit over 2 miles away!

They are the closest to this place, they are the ‘Collins’ who are an up and coming family thanks to the husband and father becoming a soldier for the Crown Family who just recently became an official Mafia Famiglia.

The wife would occasionally come over and chat with Claudia. They seem to get along well thank’s to Claudia’s experience in being married to a rising star Mafioso previously.

Claudia could understand most of Jenna’s issues and would be sympathetic when Jenna’s husband left for long business trips!

Thanks to Jenna being sympathetic to Claudia and her children's current financial situation, she often donates some of the things she changes or does not use as often.

Thanks to that, the living room now had a decent sofa and 40” flat screen! Even though Claudia would usually say no to Jenna, the way Mrs. Collins insists tends to be overwhelming, due to Claudia’s weak state of mind she would give in after a couple of times.

"Finally, we made it back! I though I would never see my beautiful bed again!” Claudia said throwing herself in a bed that almost didn't fit in the room.

After throwing herself on the bed, she couldn’t fight against her tired body and stressed mind falling asleep very quickly. This is something that rarely happens.

Claudia didn’t even bother to change clothes and get comfortable before snoring away!

David, who stood at the door smiling warmly, walked over and took off his mother's heels.

Seeing that she had just recklessly thrown herself on the bed, her position seemed a bit uncomfortable and would most definitely cause her nightmares.

So David slowly and delicately shifted her body into a much more comfortable position for her to sleep and not wake up with any pain on her neck or back either.

This was part of David's responsibility now, because of a promise he made a long time ago David needed to become a man and not the trash he had been in the past.

This is a chance of a lifetime...

Closing the door gently, a small, soothing and warm smile curled up on his face at the sight of his mother's sleeping face.

To be able to see her in the peak of her life again made him feel relaxed. This time he swore an oath to protect his family and help them live a peaceful life, just like in his past life.

Though back then, he had noticed too late and caused too much harm to the people whose blood he shared.

Walking around the house, David inspected the small garage which had troubles with the gate that wouldn’t open like it should and caused Claudia to leave the car outside.

In about two weeks the car will be stolen, causing David and Ariel to miss their Final Exams which would allow them to pass their current grade and reach the next.

Missing the Final Exams meant having to retake everything again. Due to David’s lack of interest he ended up quitting school! A regretful and very stupid thing to do!

David knew this needed to be fixed, he gained lots of experience in lots of things in his past life so it shouldn’t be a problem to fix the garage gate to keep the car safe.

As he walked to the end of the garage there was a busted door that led to the backyard which even though there was a huge amount of empty land around their house that stretched to about 50 miles at least almost reaching the next town over and having a view of the highway, was enclosed and small.

It was smaller than the smallest backyard, with a measurement of 500 square feet, they couldn’t even have outdoor pets because they would suffocate in this place.

’Hell, even I feel like it's hard to breathe, too small, this needs to get fixed!’ David thought as he walked back inside with a determined expression.

After taking a cold shower that made David feel like it was TOO DAMNED COLD! He decided that some hot water was needed for a better lifestyle, it was a luxury to have a Water Heater.

Getting into comfortable clothes which were, a plain white undershirt, black shorts that he had long thought lost and his childhood favorite sandals that disappeared after a certain incident.

After getting ready and comfortable he decided to go and cook since he was feeling the munchies coming on. To think he would feel as such, it’s been so long since he burned some of the good g***a.

The kitchen, to no surprise, was less than simple. The stove had some damaged burner rings and one of the handles to turn it on had been burned off.

The fridge freezer was the only thing that cooled. The lower part of the fridge where the normally cooled things are supposed to be, felt warm and many things had gone bad.

David cleaned everything that had rotted and took out the ingredients he needed to make a simple menu.

In his past life, when David was around 18 he left home and learned how to survive on his own. One of the things he was very good at was at cooking, even when there was a lack of ingredients he could make something incredible.

David began doing all the preparations as a marvelous scent began to spread throughout the small house.

It was a talent he had gained during his toughest years, the way he seasoned the food as if it were a magical potion he was concocting seemed so ephemeral.

Looking at him work, even the Head Chef of a famous restaurant would be marveled by the gentleness and technique that David used to cut vegetables and mince the meat!

In her room Ariel was focused on studying something that seemed very complicated. The book had complicated images of formation circles and cultivation runes.

As she tried to concentrate and began to understand some of the more complicated [Spirit Runes] that would help her get what she wants, something slapped her out of it!

“Wha— what is this magical scent!?” Ariel asked herself as she felt her mouth drooling.

The smell of something amazing had crawled into her nose and caused her brain to tremble with excitement at the thought of exploding as it tasted whatever gave off such a magical scent!

Ariel couldn’t control her curiosity and lustful desires to taste whatever it was and walked out of the room following the smell.

Reaching the kitchen her eyes opened wide...

David was cooking with such passion in his eyes, yet Ariel could see the gentleness of his smile as he moved the pan filled with ingredients that made her feel lust she had never felt for anything before.

Seeing her little brother cooking she was startled and quickly reacted!

”Monkey! What the tell are you doing?!” Ariel asked in a very surprised way and impressed with the scene that unfolded before her! But, her tone was strict.

Even the kitchen seemed celestial with David cooking in it!

”Ah, big sister, wait for a bit! I'm almost done.” David calmly replied, ignoring Ariel’s surprised expression and strict tone as he once again fully focused on finishing the meal.

Ariel was even more surprised at how her little monkey acted so composed while she obviously spoke with a strict tone. Even if her expression was that of surprise, her tone was unmistakable.

How come this little brother of her’s acts like an adult?

Even Ariel herself doesn't have such maturity. Once a grown up speaks with such a strict tone, she will give a respectful answer!

But, David was neither respectful nor disrespectful! How come the little monkey sounded like more of an older brother than she did an older sister?

"Do monkeys even cook?" Ariel questioned with a mocking face as she walked and sat behind the small counter in a broken stool.

Being used to the broken stool she was able to sit without falling off.

Her mocking question was to see how this little monkey would respond. David would usually refute and try to bite or humiliate Ariel even harder.

"Monkeys take care of their families, so it's obvious they can cook! What kind of question is this, big sister?” David chuckled as he calmly replied to Ariel.

Ariel was beyond shocked to see her little brother not being affected by her taunt. She couldn't help but smile awkwardly feeling that David was acting like he was the oldest!
