DEFENCE

248 Words
"The humans are here!" I heard my mom exclaim, looking shocked and saying "Impossible." She turned towards me, and I could hear the hope in her voice, mixed with desperation, as she asked, "Avery, did you let out our secret?" I swore, "No," fully trusting that Cinna would not let my secret out. "What about Ravidad?" my brother asked, but I quickly remembered that Ravidad was the one who always reminded me that our secret should not be let out, so he wouldn't betray his own people. That's when I heard my father's voice saying, "We don't have time for this." With little time, we prepared our Eastern armies, even though we weren't war-ready, since we thought the humans could never find us as we were marching out. I heard my mom say, "Avery, take the ring and go to the portal and run." Before I could reply, we saw a great crowd coming, and they stopped before us. Lan, the one who trained us on how to control our powers, said, "This is our home, and we are going to defend it or die trying." I looked towards my mom and said, "I wouldn't run from my home." She looked at me and nodded, but still gave me the ring, saying she only trusted me with it. As I looked towards the skies of my home, it was cloudy and darker than usual. We charged towards battle, hoping that we could defend our home from our invaders.
