Josie

I heard a big bang at our door. If the big bad wolf were to get into the little pigs house I think that's the sound he would make to do it. Some muffled voices started making noise down the long hallway, it sounded like some kind of walkie talkie. Then I heard his voice, the voice I didn't know at the time, that would haunt me for the next 15 years. "Josie, don't make us hurt you or the little girl Josie." his tone was deep but smooth, talking as though he was scolding a silly child that he was amused with. "You know what you did and you know why it was wrong, you will be punished Josie but how bad depends on you." Who is this man? Why does he use mommy's name like they're friends? Her name is Josephine not Josie. She wouldn't let a bad man call her Josie. Maybe they're friends and this is all just a silly mistake. That thought disappeared as soon as it came. The power turned off. The only visible areas were where the moonlight touched from our big windows. Mommy had the curtains open like she expected to need the moonlight. She was glowing beautifully as the light illuminated all of her delicate features. Two men dressed in black uniforms with helmets slowly walked down the hallway. mommy crouched with her back against the wall like a spider. The bad men's flashlights were searching but they didn't see her in time. While they looked down on the opposite wall at her shoes, they missed her tiny frame on the opposite wall. Mommy moved so quickly, striking like a scorpion. she sliced through the men's legs right behind their knees. Shock delayed their grunts of pain which gave mommy enough time to slice their throats before their screams could come. Their eyes looking straight at me as if there wasn't a door separating them from seeing me, wide with shock and glossy realization they fell over making strange gargled noises. I had to hold in my scream and be quiet and still, just like mommy said. It was so hard but I knew I couldn't let her down. Two more men followed in after and mommy so quick and catlike jumped on the entryway table and launched herself onto one of the men. She quickly climbed up to his shoulders digging her knees into his neck and as he fell I heard a crack like a thick tree branch breaking. Before fully standing up she used her full body weight to slam her back into the fourth bad man knocking him hard into the wall. Dazed he lost his balance and mommy quickly grappled him to the ground. She had him in a tight chokehold, he was sputtering and spitting for air that never came. She slowly released the pressure from his neck. No sooner did the bad man come around the corner saying "Such a shame Josie." I didn't see what he did to her but as she looked at me with fear and another unrecognizable expression, she slumped over and a faint cry of "Mommy" left my lips. The bad man heard my noise from the closet. I saw his black boots step closer to the closet door. His steely blue/grey eyes focused straight into my bold green eyes as he kneeled down and looked through the door panes. His smile sickly illuminated by the moonlight was like getting doused by a bucket of ice water. My tummy was getting sick and I was dizzy. Without realizing I was holding my breath, darkness slowly took over.
