Nicos's POV It's been a week since the ambush that killed Don Julio and his men took place. Valentina has been recuperating well and the entire city has been so quiet due to the incident, but I'm sure there are some movement and plotting taking place underground. “Where are you going?” I jolted up from my seat as soon as I spotted Valentina walking down the stairs. My eyes fell on her exposed thighs and I quickly looked away. “I'm going out,” she answered and turned around to face me. Her beautiful face glowed as the sun pierced through the window and shone on her face. “Where to?” I stood up and walked towards her. “I didn't know I had to report each of my movements to you. I just need to get something.” she said and I scoffed. “What! You know you can't leave the house right now. Whatever it is, I can help you get it.” I offered and she frowned as she looked at me. “No you can't. I need some clothes, I don't have any here. And I need to get some lady's things. Besides, I've been locked in this house for the past one week. I'm tired and I need some fresh air.” She said and began walking away, but I grabbed her arm. “I know you are not used to taking orders and you would prefer to do as you please. But I'm sorry to break it to you. You are going to listen to me as long as you live here. So go back inside the room or I'm going to make you.” I dished out my words in a single sentence as I burned with rage. “I do not take orders from you or anyone else for that matter. I want to leave and that's exactly what I will do. You can't make me stay.” She gritted in between her teeth and I smiled in amusement. “You are do fiesty. I guess that's what being a Don's daughter does to you. But you are in a different world now. And until you go back to your world, you will do as I say because I rule this world.” I retorted and closed my palm tighter around her arm. “Let me go!” She yelled and some of my men came out and saw the fight. Antonio rolled his eyes and frowned. I was too distracted with Antonio that I didn't see Valentina bring out a gun. “Let me go now! Or I'm going to blow your hand off me, it's your choice.” I pointed to his hand and he heaved a deep sigh. “Don't make this harder, Valentina. I'm not keeping you here for any other reason, but because you need to be safe. I will have Martha and the maids get you what you need.” I suggested. “No!” She kept her darkened eyes on me and I shook my head. “f**k!” I cursed and meticulously planned my move. I grabbed her waist, throwing her off balance and her hands were flying in the air. I punched her stomach lightly so she would bend a little. She did just as I thought, and I jumped up to catch the gun. I tossed the gun and one of my men quickly took it. I marched towards her, not giving her the time to breathe. I picked her up and carried her. Her face was on my back and her legs on my chest. “Let me go! Let me go right this minute. What is wrong with you? I'm not some criminal. Why in the world are you treating me like this?” she kicked and screamed, but I didn't mind her. I flung the door to her room open and walked towards the bed. I slammed her on the bed and she jolted right up. I climbed the bed as well and pinned her down with my hands on her shoulder. “What are you doing…” her voice trembled this time and I could feel my body reacting to her. I have been with too many women not to recognise this feeling. “Don't push me to do what you don't want, Valentina. You must do as I say, or….” My voice trailed as I felt her hot breath on my skin causing me to lose focus. “What…” her voice quivered and I quickly stood up. “Martha and the maids will get you everything you need as I have said. And you might want to get dressed. I will take you to town at night so you can take as many fresh breaths as you want.” I said and walked out of the room without even looking at her. “What just happened? She was about to kill you.” Antonio aired out his fear and I shook my head. “No of course not, she was only trying to scare me. Have Martha arrange some clothes for her as well as everything she might need.” I said and walked away. “You still want her, don't you?” Antonio asked and I stood still for a while. I exhaled sharply and walked away. “Hey!” Antonio shouted after me. Later that night, I sat in my office trying to sort some paperwork, but my head is too clouded and has been a mess since this afternoon. “She's such a handful,” I complained. Suddenly I heard a knock on the door and I wondered who came to look for me. “Come in!” I said and Valentina emerged and walked towards me. She stopped as she got to the desk and I stood up as well. I strode over to her and pushed her against the wall. I grabbed her waist and she gasped. “Valentina…” I whispered and groaned inwardly. “Do you remember when you rejected my marriage proposal?” I asked her, and she wiggled herself away, escaping my grasp. “Nico, my brother had just died. I couldn't have gotten married in that state.” She reminded me, and I shook my head. I walked up to her and grabbed her face. I leaned forward, and she closed her eyes, as an une asy tension built up between us. Something that felt familiar yet strange.
