The Rockstar That Saved Me

Chapter 2

Every day we did something fun with Roxas. Right now, we were at Build-A-Bear, making Roxas a bear to keep with him. I paid extra for two custom recording boxes. One of me telling Roxas I loved him and the other was both of us singing Barney's I Love You song. I almost didn't make it through without crying. Roxas was excited and giggling, which made me smile. I hope Zac doesn't take this from him.

After Build-A-Bear, I asked him where he wanted to go. "Mama what's that?" I glanced over and saw a photo booth. "It's a photo booth. You go in and it takes pictures. You can take silly pictures too." His eyes lit up. "Can we do it? I want one with Mama and one with Unca Jac." Jax and I laughed. "Okay baby let's do you and Mommy and then Uncle Jax." We stepped into the booth and took a couple of silly pictures and then Roxas did one picture where he kissed my cheek. Then Jax came in and we took more silly pictures with him. "I'll cut them in half and give them to you at Uncle Jax's house. Do you want some ice cream now? How about the rolled ice cream that we like to watch people make in videos?" He and Jax's eyes went wide and nodded. "Yes!" I shook my head laughing at Jax being as excited as Roxas over the rolled ice cream.

When we got to the ice cream shop we told them what we wanted and were watching them make it. "Tomorrow is our last day." I mumbled to Jax as we watched Roxas bouncing, excited about the ice cream being made. "I know. Do you want to take him to the beach? It's supposed to be nice but not too hot." Keeping his voice low so Roxas couldn't hear. I sighed, "That sounds good."

"Mama, did you see it! It's cool!" I smiled at him. "I did, baby! Let's eat it then go to Uncle Jax's house." He grinned back at me. "Otay mama." We ate it and then headed back to Jax's. I cooked Roxas's favorite meal, creamy chicken pasta, and we went to bed early, so we were well rested for the beach. When Roxas complained, I told him that we had a surprise for him tomorrow but that he had to go to sleep. In no time he was out and so was I.

I felt like I had blinked, and my alarm went off. I rolled over and woke Roxas up. "Roxas, baby wake up. Do you want to go to the beach play in the water?" He shot up and started screaming. "WATER! WATER!" I laughed at him. "Okay sweet boy, let's get dressed then you can wake Uncle Jax up."

As soon as he was dressed, he ran into Jax's room. He slowly crawled onto the bed. I saw Jax open his eyes and then close them, playing along. Roxas stood up and started jumping up and down on the bed. "UNCA JAC! UP! UP!" Jax groaned. "No." Roxas pouted. "Water Unca Jac. Up!"

"Water, huh?!" Jax scooped him up and tickled him. "OK little buddy. Let's go." He got dressed while I fed Roxas and got the stuff into the car. We drove to the beach a couple of miles away from the house.

We had been at the beach for several hours when we heard girls screaming. I rolled my eyes, wondering what celebrity had been spotted. I mean we are in L.A. "Mama I am hungry." I smiled and picked Roxas up. I was going to miss my boy. "Let's go get Mama's boy something to eat. Jax, do you want something?"

I glanced over to Jax. I rolled my eyes and cleared my throat. "Yo Cuz!" Jax looked up at me from where he was flirting heavily with a chick. "Yeah, Rogue?" The girl looked up as well. "Rogue? That is such an awesome name! I'm jealous!" I smiled at her. "Thanks! Do either of you want something? I'm going to go get Roxas something to eat."

"Yeah, grab us a couple beers and some fries. I'll watch Roxas." I put Roxas down. "Stay with Uncle Jax and-" I looked at the girl asking her name. "Oh! It's Jamie!" I smiled at her. "Jamie is a badass name! I'll be right back!"

I walked over to the Beach Burger Shack and placed our order. I sat at the bar while waiting for the food. I felt someone sitting next to me. "I'll have a beer." He turned to me. He was the most gorgeous guy that I have ever seen. "Hey, I'm Asher."

"Rogue," He smiled at me. "That is a badass name." I just smirked. "That's what people keep telling me." The bartender brought me my order, which was on two trays. "Do you need help, ma'am?" I opened my mouth to say no that I would take two trips when Asher spoke. "I'll help her." I smiled my thanks picked up a tray and headed to where our stuff was.

When we got closer, Roxas ran up to me, "Mama! Unca Jac mean!" I held back a smile. I set the tray down on the table and put my hands on my hips. "What did Uncle Jax do to my baby boy?!" I playfully glared at Jax. "Sand!" he pointed to his hair. "Dammit Jax! Do you know how long it will take me to scrub all of that sand out of his hair? I can't take him back to Zac that way!"

Jax rolled his eyes. "Chill Rogue. I'll bathe him and scrub his head." He looked behind me with a frown while Jamie wiggled her eyebrows at me. I gave them a confused look and looked behind me to see Asher standing there awkwardly. "Oh s**t! I'm so sorry Asher! I forgot you were there. Asher this is Jax and Jamie. Guys, this is Asher." I gave him an apologetic smile.

"It's all good Rogue." Roxas ran up to him and held his hands up, wanting to be held. Asher picked him up. "Hey, little guy. I'm Asher." Roxas grinned. "Hi, Asher." Asher laughed. "What's your name?" "I'm Roxas." I smiled. "Well, that's a cool name Roxas. How old are you?" Roxas held up two fingers. "I'm two!" Asher laughed and ruffled his hair and sand flew everywhere. I glared at Jax, who looked around whistling while Jamie was trying not to laugh.

I rolled my eyes and looked back to see Roxas ruffling Asher's hair covering it in sand. My eyes widened. "Roxas! No!" Asher glanced at me. "He's fine." Roxas hid his face in Asher's chest. "Mama is mad at me." My face fell as I didn't want him to think I was mad at him on my last day with him. "No baby. Mama's not mad at you."

He looked at me and smiled. "Love you Mama." I smiled at him, taking him from Asher. "I love you too baby. Now here, eat your food." He started stuffing his face with his fries. I sat down and gestured for Asher to sit down.

We talked for the next couple of hours until the sun started to set and Roxas started rubbing his eyes. I picked him up and walked towards the water until it was lapping around my ankles. "Mama loves you so much, baby." He grabbed my head and kissed my lips in a very slobbery kiss. "I love you Mama." He started frowning. "Why Mama cry?" He started wiping the tears that I tried so hard to hide. "Mama has to take you back to Daddy tomorrow. Mama has to go away on a trip for a while, and you will be with Daddy.

"Why you leave me? I miss you! Mama mad at me?" Tears flowed down both of our faces. "No baby! Mama isn't mad at you! I love you so much and will miss you too. I will be back as soon as I can. Okay, baby?" I wiped his tears away. "Okay Mama."

I turned away and walked back to the table and picked up Roxas' backpack. Jax gave me a sad smile, understanding what just happened. Asher saw my face and frowned but didn't say anything, not wanting to overstep. "Here is my number Rogue. Call me if you ever need anything or want to talk." Once I had buckled Roxas into his car seat I grabbed the paper from him. "Thanks Asher. It was awesome meeting you. Maybe we can hang out again soon?" He smiled and gave me a short hug, knowing I needed it. "I would love that."

"Bye, little guy. Be good." Roxas gave him a toothy grin. "Bye Asher." I looked closer and saw something brown all over his teeth. "What the hell? JAX!" I looked over to see Jax eating chocolate. He froze and gave me a sheepish grin. I rolled my eyes as I got into the car. "Bye Asher." He waved. "Bye Rogue call me sometime." "I will."
