A time for everything
In the few days following the shooting, as the full scope of the event was sinking into the minds of everyone in the community, twenty crosses were built in the small park across from the parking lot in front of the school. It was February so nobody was using the area for gardens and environmental projects anyway. Students in shop class had previously built six crosses for an Easter project with the nearby elementary school kids who would eventually transition to Belden High but they’d been repurposed. Turns out those six crosses had never made it to the elementary school, they ended up being erected in front of my school, bearing the names of six people that I knew.
