CHAPTER TWELVE Connie walked up the stone steps of the one-story stucco home and banged the brass doorknocker. The little girl from the park poked her head out the door. “Uh-oh.” She tried to close the door, but Connie held it. “Well, well, well, if it isn’t my little friend?” “Randee?” a man yelled from inside. “Who’s at the door?” The girl huffed, her cheeks spreading. “No one, Dad.
