“Deni!”
That familiar feminine voice called out to her. Turning towards the voice her hands gripping her bag pack straps, the girl smiled.
Her smile completely grew wider once she spotted that dark haired, brown eyed ‘friend’ she had made a few days prior.
Skylar’s eyes trailed up and down the girl’s clothing — a comfortable blue tank top, knee length shorts. Leaning closer to Loona’s ear she smirked.
“See I told you she is too good looking for thirteen.” she whispered, whispered in a sense for the third party to hear.
Blushing Loona looked anywhere but at the girl, straight in the face.
“Skylar.”
Deni growled trying her best to overthrow the blush filling her pale skin — she wasn’t great at taking compliments — mostly the ones Skylar said in a certain way. Or maybe it was the girl beside her.
Waving her concerns away she beamed. “Oh so hey, we were just passing by and we wanted to say hello, how do you do — but maybe watch you fight, punch some guys in the face. Sadly we’re late.” she ended with a pout, a very childish one.
Huffing Deni shrugged her shoulders, her lips pursed for s moment before opening them to speak.
“Hello to you too, I am fine and you. Such a bummer you couldn’t see my ass get kicked by my mother — you most definitely could have enjoyed than.”
She was excited even though her mother served her in today’s lesson — this time Skylar wasn’t around to laugh at her, giving her second hand embarrassment for even knowing her.
“Are there security cameras?” Skylar asked cheerful, a big bright smile.
“I will not tell you that.” she snorted. At least she could hold onto the list amount of pride she had today.
Ignoring her whining she face the dark raven haired girl, a friendly smile pasted on her face.
“Hey Loona, I hope she’s not giving you a hard time.”
Gesturing towards Skylar she asked a perky smile on her face as the girl pretended to be hurt — by the least of course.
Chuckling Loona shook her head. “Don’t worry about it. The shoe fits both ends.”
It wasn’t a pretence, the shoe did actually fit both ways — maybe one more than the other but they were equally giving the other strain.
Breaking their ‘love’ gaze Skylar cleared her slightly dry throat, attention towards flush Deni she smirked.
“So Deni. Do you perhaps have plans right now?” she questioned perfectly eyeing the girl, and she could not help notice her eyes were on Loona the more she talked, so did Loona — talk about third wheeling.
Tilting her head she scratched her chin. “Does showering sound like a plan?” a long training meant a lot of sweat and she was drenched in it, even if it dried up — she felt it.
“Not in my dictionary!”
Skylar squealed taking a step toward Deni, who simultaneously took one step back.
“Wait a second I stink!” holding her arms out in front of her body she prevented the girl from coming any closer.
“What do you suggest?” Skylar furrowed her eyebrows.
Dropping her guard she let her arms fall to her side, then sighed a bit in relief.
“How about I shower first then you tell where to meet you girls.”
Loona agreed with a head nod, it took Skylar a few seconds but she did agree — sweet joy.
“Meet us at the cafeteria once you are done, sounds good?”
Skylar hooked her arm around Loona’s left — about to turn and walk away from Deni.
“Yeah..” she responded turning to leave as well, but Skylar’s voice calling out to her again made her stop and turn.
“Wait, you do know where the cafeteria is right?”
Waving her off with a firm head nod ‘yes’ she walked to her room — a quick shower then a friendly date.
§
“So why here?” Deni asked walking through the cafeteria doors — no one was in sight which was good considering most of them went to rest.
Following the enthusiastic girl the stopped in front of the door labelled kitchen. Hitting the door twice she wiggled her eyebrows.
“Because behind this door is the eyes wonders!” walking past the door open doors she switch the lights on. A numerous line of kitchen utensils lined up on display, the machinery they used to make such raw wastes into magnificent — well thought out meals.
“Food, delicious food.” Skylar sang walking deeper and deeper into the kitchen.
Walking away to the pantry the girl came back with hand full of apples and grapes.
Catching the tossed apple her way Deni stared at Skylar. “Are we even supposed to be here.” she asked and it seemed she was the only one that cared — digging into her apple Loona didn’t at all mind, neither did Skylar.
Chewing the chunk of apple in her mouth she spoke. “Save the strictness when you are old buddy — let us enjoy!” she shouted taking yet another bite.
So Deni shrugged — joining her friends on the floor she began eating her apple, and stealing a grape or two from Skylar just to annoy her.
In the midst of laughing they completely didn’t hear the door open until the furious man voice echoed in the room, silencing them.
“Hey you’re not supposed to be in here!”
Staring at one another in shock they all kept quiet — maybe he would think it was a ghost and leave — no one altered to even breath more less swallow.
But the man stayed, his shoes making a squeaking sound each step he took.
Glaring at Skylar, that secretly meant ‘I’ll kill you after this’ she whispered. “What other way could we exist here?”
Nervously smiling she pointed at the door they used earlier. “That door.”
That was great, definitely ‘great’.
“Hey!” the man’s voice echoed again this time closer — he could see the tops of their head from the other side of the counter.
Pulling her shirt over head, enough to hide her hair and face she gestured to her other two friends. “Shirts over your heads and run!”
Then the chase began, sprinting out the cafeteria they ran away from the scene as fast as they could — their arms gripped their shirts.
Once his voice faded out Deni turn to a corner then stopped. Gripping her knees as she bent over a bit trying to catch her breath she giggled, laughed in fact — that was fun.
Staring over to Loona who had her back pressed against the wall, she smiled still laughing.
“That was thrilling.”
“Very thrilling!” she agreed with a squeal laughing herself — rather chlidish but who cared, not them.
“You are—”
Cutting herself short she listened to the foot steps getting closer, they were almost about to run but their little friend who caused all this appeared.
“Woah! Tell me about adrenaline rush!”
Holding out a bag of goods — wait a second how did she even have time to do that. Maintaining their puzzled expression they watched her walk away — dancing away.
