"Hit left"
Aria turned with her dagger to stab a tree at her left.
"Hit right"
She did the same but at her right.
"Take a rest"
"You're a fast learner"
"You're an amazing teacher"
They both smiled sheepishly at themselves.
"Can the both of you just quit already? It's getting pretty obvious that you guys obviously want to-"
"Shut it"
"Alright we'll be heading to the next town in a few minutes, so pack up"
Raven ran down the hill to get his stuff.
"Quit drooling over him, he can't wait to get rid of you"
"What's your problem?"
"My problem is that I don't want you losing focus on what's important"
Aria's wolf raises her voice at her and she argues back
"What's important?"
"Are you ready?"
Raven asks Aria
"Yes!"
She packs her stuff and starts following Raven.
****
Aria and Raven make a stop in the forest on the mountain. Raven tells her that they'll camp there for the night because traveling in the night is too dangerous.
Raven dresses a place for her to sleep while places his weapons on a rock and takes position there they say adjacent while facing the fire. There seems to be an underlying silence that Raven decides to break
"I don't know if you'll like rabbit but I got you some rabbit meat"
Aria gives a disgusting state but her wolf has a different option.
"Finally some food I'm starving"
"Shut up"
Aria tells her.
"What did you say?"
Aria didn't want to seem ungrateful but she was the compassionate type she didn't believe in hunting or eating animals especially the weak types like rabbits.
"Um nothing. It's just that, I'm full"
Raven looked astonished
"Really? I didn't know you had eaten something on our way"
"Ye-ye-yes. When you left me the other time I had something"
"Really?"
"Yes"
"What did you eat?"
"Um-umm I had a-a-a rabbit"
"Really?"
"Yes, please stop questioning me. I'm just really tired and I want to sleep. Goodnight"
"You're a bad liar"
"What. I'm not ly-"
"I was secretly watching you when I left you alone earlier"
"What? Why would you do that?"
"Just in case some beast decided to attack her I wanted to be able to protect you"
"Oh"
An awkward silence is ushered in but Raven breaks it again.
"I saw the look on your face. I know you didn't like rabbits. Which is going to me making ask you a question"
"And"
A tense moment of suspense is shared in between them. Aria worries that he might notice that she's not who he thinks she actually is.
"What do you want to eat? You haven't eaten anything since I found you?"
"Oh that I would like some porridge"
"Where am I supposed to get that"
"Don't worry, I'll make it. Just sit and watch"
Raven was shocked how it was possible that a werewolf would prepare food for mortals over meat. "Is she even a werewolf?" That was the thought that occupied Raven's mind but he didn't even voice it out. He just sat down and watched her make her porridge.
****
Raven didn't even know when he fell asleep that was not part of his ethic as a fighter. Jumping up he quickly looked at Aria who was fast asleep.
She looked so beautiful, her red hair made her look like a dangerous rogue who could fight but she was quite the opposite. Raven couldn't help but stare at her face, her plumpy lips were so precious.
Just then Aria turned her head, she had a look of fear like she was having a bad dream and she was. What did she see? A pair of silver eyes pierce through the darkness. She wakes gasping, heart pounding… as if someone, somewhere, just found her.
Raven turned around quickly because he didn't want to make it look as if he was staring at her in her sleep.
"Good morning"
Aria said while standing up with fear in her heart.
"Good morning"
"How was your sleep?"
Aria asked in her lowly small voice
"Fine. Yours?"
"It was nice too"
Aria stretched as she stood up.
"Umm get ready, we're going down the mountains today"
"Okay? So what does that mean"
"It means he's going to dump you with a bunch of rogues who love together "
Her wolf attacked her from inside.
"Well, I told you that I'm going to look for a place for you to stay it's not safe for a lady like you to be in these mountains"
"Oh"
Aria sounded like she was saddened by her sudden departure from Raven.
"Don't tell me. Oh my gawd poor thing you're already catching feelings for him"
Aria's wolf mocked her but that was not the case. She didn't know who she was. Her memory was still scanty and for the most part her wolf was more of a b***h than a friend.
"When do we leave?"
Aria finally asked after her bereavement.
"Right now"
Aria packed her stuff while listening to her wolf mock her.
****
They finally made it down the mountains unfortunately the journey was a days long journey because Raven had taken a longer path. His reason was that it was safer so he could afford to protect Aria.
"The next rogue camp is a few miles away, just hold on"
Raven tried to comfort her but she felt betrayed. He was just going to dump her like she meant nothing to him.
"Stop being emotional, in your past life you were married to a king why are you mad a peasant just wants to help you"
Aria's wolf mocks her but something captures her attention.
"I was married to a king?"
She whispers but something captures her attention. She sees a pack of wolves howling at the full moon and it feels familiar to her.
"What's that?"
She asks Raven
"The annual moon festival"
Aria has flashbacks and her memory starts to play pictures of the festival.
"It's only for the wolves who belong to packs, it's not for people like us"
"People like us"
"Rogues"
Raven echoes back bitterly. Aria feels drawn to the festival and in that instance she runs towards the festival like she is in a trance. Raven turns and is forced to run after her screaming her name.
"Arrrriiiiaaa"
