Interviews

948 Words
Waking up the next morning at my normal time for school. I got dressed in casual clothes for classes because after all I will have enough time after class to get ready for the interviews. As I always do I skipped breakfast and headed straight to my 1997 green Chevy truck. It use to be my dad's car but now I drive it. School was typical I met up with Lily my best friend. All day she has been giving me pointers on my interview. "Lily for someone who has never had a job you sure are giving me tons of advice," I finally told her heading to my truck. I threw my bag in the trunk as I stared at her. "I read alot of magazine articles on getting a job. I am just focused on my scholarship opportunities right now to get a job. But you bet once summer comes I'll get one." Lily is the all around sport and athletic type, with her fit body and blonde hair she could become a model, but instead wants to be a lawyer. She has it all figured out. She's trying to get a volleyball and soccer scholarships to work with her valedictorian scholarship so that Harvard is attainable. I on the other hand am the complete opposite with school at least. Looks wise me and her could be twins, in fact all through grade school we told people we were twins. I have a fit body even though I am not athletically inclined and I have platinum blonde hair with hazel eyes. "Sure you will," I holler at her as she walks to the gym. we have the same schedule but she took extra PE classes to keep in shape. I got in my car and drove home. My interviews being at 2 and 3 meant I had to hurry getting dressed so I could make it early. I have always been someone who likes to be early to a place then rather then right on time. Its 1:15 and I made it home which is perfect timing.I took a shower and got dressed in a black dress suit with a white button up shirt and black shine pumps. I figured it wasn't to dressy for the bakery and was just enough dressy for the waitress job at the grill. By 1:30 I was dressed and ready to go. I drove the ten minutes to the bakery. I am super excited walking in to the bakery. I walk up to the counter. "Hello, my name is Leaanna," I tell the lady behind the counter. "Hello Leaanna, your here for the interview right? My name is Julia, I am the owner of the bakery." "Yes,ma'am I am here for the interview." "Perfect, let's start shall we? Do you have any experience?" " I have baking experience. Me and my mom use to bake every Saturday night, so that we would have treats on Sunday." "OK any customer service experience?" "Only a few lemonade stands me and my best friend made as kids," "You're willing to learn though?" "Yes Ma'am I am." "OK, you wanna start on Saturday? Pay days will be Fridays." "Sounds great. Thank you!" Walking out I feel very accomplished. I do a victory dance once I got to my truck. It included a twirl and everything, but I feel this prickly feeling like some one is watching me, so I stop and get in. once inside I glance around to see if I see any one but I don't. Hmmm must be inside my head. I glance at the clock and notice that its 2:35, so I drive to the grill. Thankfully it is only a 5 min drive from the bakery. The out side of the grill looks a little runned down from the outside but yesterday, which was Sunday, they had a help wanted sign in the window. Today they don't so I hope that doesn't mean they hired someone already. I walk inside and the dimly lit room has a few customers sitting at booths. One waitress is helping the booths and one bar tender. I walked up to him and introduced myself." Hello, I am Leaanna. I have an interview today." "Perfect the boss is waiting for you," he tells me as he is walking towards the back, "Well are you coming?" "Yeah I'm coming," I say as I follow him to where the Boss is. I'm not sure why but I feel really nervous all of a sudden. Walking into this very back room i see that it is not dim in here at all but actually very bright. Behind the desk in the middle of the room is a young man. He looks to be maybe 25 or 26. I am a bit confused because the bar tender is older and was calling this guy boss, but I introduce myself anyways. "Hello, my name is Leaanna. I am here for an interview for the waitress position." "Hello Leaanna, My name is Romain. You got the job." "Wait, I have the Job? you didn't even ask me any questions yet." I am completely flabbergasted. How does one simply get a job by introducing ones self. "Well do you have waitress experience?" "No, but I have an ability to learn." "Well then perfect. You start tomorrow and pay days are Fridays." "Ok." Romain handed me a uniform and told me to be here at 5pm starting tomorrow. I walked to my truck completely confused on how I got a Job with barely an interview. I drove home to make dinner, and get ready for my first day of work after school.
