Rachel parked the van a street down from Li Starr"s bedsit and got out to check the street. She"d always considered this part of S"aven the glamorous side of the shantytown, an area an overworked and underpaid doctor rarely visited. The remnants of the former glory days of S"aven"s strip were just about visible in the crudely written signs boasting cheap drinks and even cheaper women. This had been Roxy"s kingdom. His mother"s club was the highlight of the strip, and the surrounding buildings bolstered his realm with an array of dive bars, gambling houses, and opium dens.
