A sheet of hail smacked the van windscreen, forcing John to slow down. His hands gripped the wheel tighter, his eyes sharpening on the disappearing road. So far he was calm, focussed. But the calculating soldier could easily become a berserker when provoked. If they crossed into enemy territory to discover the worst… well, Charlie didn"t even want to think that far ahead.
