Their exit beckoned. Rachel bore more of Roxy"s weight, allowing Charlie to open it. He grasped the handle and pulled it. Icy wind whipped at his face. Hail pounded against the cracked tarmac. He could make out the headlights of their van at the edge of the lot. There was still so much ground to cover, and this station was just too damn quiet. All around, sirens blared; smoke billowed through the hail. Charlie scanned the lot, expecting at least an attempt at resistance. All he got was Mark Bellamy hurrying towards them on foot. “He knows he"s got a van, right,” Charlie said to Rachel.
