Tycen's POV
After Tristan shared that uh.........interesting.......experience last night, I've had a lot to think about but I can't exactly do that when my friends are making sure I don't go to far with my thoughts.
The dominance thing is okay but it's the distraction thing that I'm worried about. Before grandad passed away 4 years ago, I promised him that I would protect the werewolf kingdom. If St all we were discovered, it would be end game for us. There's a reason all royal families around the world are so mysterious. We sacrifice a lot and some things are better kept hidden. But then again it depends if that royal family stands for good or evil.
I can't get too distracted but I just can't leave my mate hanging once I take over the thrown. I really hope the moon goddess comes through for me and blesses me with a mate tha-
"Hey!" I yell from the sudden pain in my arm.
"Sorry dude, you can't get lost in that head of yours or else you'll start overthinking things which will lead you to making crazy plans that involve keeping everyone happy even though you'll have to suffer," James shrugs.
"Can we just do something to get all our minds from what I said yesterday," Tristan says.
"We can go for a hunt and then just chill by the lake," Broody suggests, "just as soon as we all decide that we're done lazing around."
"Let's make this competition," I begin, "according to my werewolf geography, this area has little to no rabbits. If we're going hunting, let's see who can catch the most rabbits in 4 hours then we'll all meet here to compare before heading to the late."
"I like that idea," Broody says.
"Yeah that makes so much sense. Oh man I don't even remember that last time that we went hunting," James says looking all excited as if he's already won.
I almost roll my eyes at that.
"We went hunting 2 days ago genius," Tristan says while playfully hitting his head from the back.
"Ni I get what James is trying to say," Broody starts up, "with Tycen's princely duties and our training, we haven't gone hunting as friends in a really long time."
"Well then I guess today is the day," I say as I begin to stretch and prepare my body for a shift.
All my friends begin to shift and each of them look so excited about this that I realise that it has indeed been a while since we did this.
With potentially finding my mate in a few days and taking over as king in a few months, I fear that I might not get to go on these runs as often in the future.
I begin to shift into my large white wolf before my friends call me out for thinking too much again. I'm the first white wolf since the very first werewolves and even during that time of our ancestors, the white wolfs were limited.
The people of the kindness of course do not know about this because we believe that we have some traitors within our lands that's why I wasn't allowed to s**t infront of the whole kingdom when I turned 21.
Being a white wolf has it's perks but it also has it's disadvantages. For example, my werewolf abilities are thrice of that of the royal family and those of high rank like Alphas but that also means I'm more possessive with my things, my protective instincts are off the roof and I bet I'm just as clingy when it comes to my mate.
"See you in 4 hours kids," James mindlinks us before he takes off.
"Ugh that's cheating," Tristan whines.
"Can we close the mindlinks during this hunt?" Broody grumbles.
"Good idea," I say before closing my mindlink and relaying on my instincts to guide me.
And for 4 hours, we hunt. It feels so refreshing letting my wolf our especially because I know how on edge he is.
************************************
4 hours later
"Oh man!" Exclaims James, "I really thought I'd win the hunt if I got a head start."
"You knew Tycen is way faster than all of us so I'm not sure why you're making this a big deal," grumbles Tristan.
"I'm sure I can take him, it's only a matter of time "
"You sound really confident for someone who just lost"
"I came out second. I'm pretty sure I'll be faster than him one day."
"He got like 100 more catch than you
"Sure, probably-
"Will you two just shut out!"
"You didn't have to yell Tycen. What's got your panties in a twist?" James laughs like what he said is the funniest thing ever.
"Leave Tycen alone. He's nervous" Broody says coming to my rescue.
"Thanks man" I say while I walk past him .
"Where are you going?" Tristan asks.
"The river" I respond before sprinting into the woods.
I spend the whole night with my thoughts by the river. I'm not only nervous about tomorrow but I'm freaking scared. What if I don't find her? Will I truly have to hand the kingdom over to my cousin?what I'd she died? But that's impossible because I would have felt it.
That night, I think about my mate, my future kingdom and if I'm truly ready to become the king and before I know it, my eyes begin to close to the sound of the peaceful flowing water and before I know it, it's time to head home and let this day decide my future.
