"There's no need." Anthony's voice was cold. "You probably don't have clothes anyways". He rolled out of the room. Avery paused, she was about to return the gown in the walk-in closet before going to bed. Her heart sank at his words and tears threatened to fall but she blinked back her tears. It was just a gown, did he have to react like this? She put the gown in her wardrobe. Headed to the bathroom, took a warm shower and went to bed. Tomorrow she would go out shopping. She would have to shop for new clothes. That way Anthony would not think she can't take care of herself. Later, Anthony rolled back into the room and with the help of his nurse, he got on the bed. Avery could feel his presence behind her but she didn't turn. She just lay quietly and let sleep claim her. Dim moonlight filtered through the thin curtains. The room was quiet except for the faint hum of a street lamp outside. A cold breeze blew into the room and Avery shivered. She unconsciously turned and draped her hand and leg over Anthony. Feeling the warmth, a small smile crossed her face. For a moment he felt a warmth in his heart. One he had never felt before. He turned his head to her, she looked so peaceful in her sleep. Then a small smile curled up on her lips. Anthony froze for a second, his heart skipped a beat. She knew what she was doing. Did she think she was smart? His mouth pressed in a thin line his brows furrowed. In one swift movement, he pushed Avery and she tumbled off the bed with a thud, her head hitting the wooden edge of the cupboard beside them. Her eyes flickered open and she felt a sharp sting in her eyes. A thin line of blood formed on her temple. She slowly reached for her temple and felt the warm liquid on it. She looked at it and saw it was blood. Her stomach sank. She slowly placed her hand by her side. She lay still pretending to be asleep. She blinked, disoriented. Her eyes stung with tears. Why did he push her? Did he hate her so much that she couldn't even touch him? A drop of tears escaped her eyes and rolled down her temple, she felt a sharp sting, burning hot as the tears entered the small wound. When Anthony noticed that Avery did not move, his heart shattered. So she was still asleep. She had unconsciously touched him. His heart sank in his stomach and his chest tightened. He couldn't watch her like that, it broke his heart. He pressed the button ringing for his nurse. In less than no time, the nurse came. "Take me to the guest room." His voice rumbled. The young nurse glanced over at Avery on the floor, her brows creased but she dared not interfere in her boss's business. Avery could her quiet movements, the nurse had helped him onto his wheelchair and they both rolled out. When she heard the door close softly, she sat up and lay on the bed. She pulled the covers to her face and let her tears fall freely. The morning had broken and Avery woke up with a throbbing headache. She headed to the bathroom feeling heaviness in her head. After taking her bath, she sat on her dressing table staring into the mirror. Her left temple had a small cut, the part of her face where she had hit on the cupboard when Anthony pushed her. Maybe if she gave him more time, he would change. Maybe all he needed was a little more love and she just had to be patient. She exhaled. She rarely applied makeup on her face but today she would have to. She needed to hide the wound. After, she met with Collins at a bar and they discussed a few things including ways to bring the company back to its feet. Later she had agreed with him to call five people from the list her father had given her. When their meeting was over, she went for that shopping. She went to a shopping mall she had always admired. The cab rolled away after she had stepped out. When she stepped in, the mall spread out in front of her like an endless maze of counters and hangers. The smell of new clothes wafted to her nose and a smile graced her lips. "Welcome madam, how can we help you?" A young girl smiled walking to stand in front of Avery. I'd like to pick a few dresses." Avery replied. "You've come to the right place. This way" the girl led Avery through the mall. She picked just three dresses after seeing their prices. She headed to the counter to pay. She gave the attendant the bag and she scanned the contents. After that, she requested her card. When Avery brought out her card, she noticed that she had left the one with money at home. "What's wrong, your husband didn't give you enough money to pay for shopping?" A voice cooed behind her wrapped in false sympathy. She spun to see Chelsea standing behind her, one hand on her waist. She was short and had brown wavy hair that fell freely on her back. Avery turned and handed her card to the attendant. "Insufficient funds madam" t, the attendant said. "You don't have any money, your husband must love you" Chelsea mocked but Avery ignored her. "I forgot my other card at home....." Avery stuttered but Chelsea cut in. "Like you have any money. You're just a gold-digging slut. I know Anthony only agreed to be with you because of Mrs Valerie. It should have been me" Chelsea uttered. Just then Anthony rolled in on his wheelchair. "Dear, how many times have I told you to always carry your card in your bag" Anthony rolled over to Avery and handed her the premium black card. He ignored all the greetings from his employees. Avery was stunned. How did he even know that she was here?
