Chapter 13
When Leila and Kate went downstairs, most of the pack members were awake.
They tried to put everything in order.
Everybody slept downstairs, in a sea of blankets, pillows, toys, and sheets.
Leila greeted everybody.
A teacher came in front of Leila, smiling at her.
- Morning you two. Kate, are you ready for school?
- Hi, Mary, yes I am.
Leila looked worried at the young teacher.
- Are you sure you can work today? After last night?
- I won’t be alone. It’s at least we can do, to let the parents resting for a few hours. And it’s nothing, comparing to what you did.
Leila turned puzzled to the teacher.
One by one, everybody in the room began bowing their head and kneeling before her.
Kate hides behind her.
- Mom? What’s going on?
- I don’t know, baby girl.
She turned
