Chapter 24
When he opened the car door, she saw Kate waiting for her.
She runs to her mother.
After Leila stood up from the car, supported by Daniel, she walked to Kate.
When the child reached her, she let go of Daniel’s hand and almost fell on her knees.
She strongly embraced her daughter and began sobbing.
Kate began crying too, with her head on her mother’s neck.
Patricia also wept her eyes off.
Even Daniel felt his vision blur.
Everybody had tears in their eyes, from the last events.
Kate whispered, on her mother’s shoulder.
-Mom, I was afraid. I was afraid that I will never see you again. That I will be alone like you were when Maude and Chris found you.
- I was afraid to, baby girl. But the thought of you kept me alive. I knew I must stay alive to get to see you again.
