EDWARD’S POV “Mum!” My voice echoes back at me and the woods swallow it whole. But no answer. I stumble forward anyway, branches clawing my arms and face as I shove through them. The woods stretch around me and there’s no end to them, or light bleeding in from anywhere. Just darkness folding into more darkness. Everything is too loud and too close, something wet moving through leaves somewhere to my left, breathing that isn’t mine coming from a direction I can’t locate no matter how fast I turn.
