As soon as Serena heard Rider's heavy footsteps and his voice booming from the doorway, her entire demeanor shifted in a split second. She pulled her hand away from my wrist with a hard, dramatic jerk, acting like I had just burned her or shoved her back. Then, in the most theatrical display I had ever witnessed, she collapsed backward onto the floor, letting out a sharp, breathless cry like she was in agonizing pain.
"Rider! Oh, Alpha, please help me!" she sobbed, clutching her side and pointing a trembling finger straight at me. "She accused me of stealing her things and pushed me! She just attacked me out of nowhere!"
