Chapter 4“Say it!” “Uh-uh.” “Say it!” “No way!” Aria shook her head. “Why not?” Callie pestered her. They had been at it for the past half hour in the kitchen and were now sitting in Aria’s living room with the TV muted. “Because,” Aria said. “Oh, c’mon, Aria. We both know it’s the truth.” “So if it is why do I need to say it out loud?” “Because I want to hear it from your mouth. Now say it!” the woman ordered. She wanted to hear Aria say that Colin Romano was one heck of an Adonis. “Forget it. I’m not saying it,” Aria declined. “At least you think so,” Callie retorted. Aria smiled to herself as she recalled the events of that afternoon at his penthouse. How she had felt touching him, talking to him and him touching her. Colin was a s*x god - tall, lean and well-built. He had a body that every woman would want to touch. The aura that surrounded him itself was tainting and inviting. He was the kind of man that would haunt your dreams forever. “So,” Callie said as she spooned the food on her plate. “You would tell me if he made a pass at you, wouldn’t you?” “Drop it, Callie,” Aria responded. “I’m just saying.” “He will not.” Aria set her plate on the table in front of them and walked over to the TV set to pick up the remote control. “It’s only a matter of time,” came Callie’s statement. “Will you shut it?” “I’m telling you. You can keep denying it but when that time comes, I’ll still be here to tell you 'I SO told you so'.” “Callie.” “Will you tell me?” she questioned. “No. Because it won’t happen. There are plenty of other much more beautiful women out there. He wouldn’t look at me twice.” She sat back down next to her best friend. “But if it does happen, you would tell me, right? I’m your best friend.” “If you were, you wouldn’t be pestering me about this right now. Why would you want to know anyway?” “Because I’m your best friend! I’m telling you to wait for it, hm? And I just want to know how he does it with you?” “Dear God!” Aria sighed. “Pretty soon you’re going to be humping him-“ “Alright! That’s it! Shut up now!” the brunette shouted. “Okay, Okay. Don’t get mad.” “I’m not. It’s the image you’re putting in my mind. It’s gonna be hard to put off.” “Sexy, right?” she winked and smiled. Aria laughed. “That’s your fault. You’re too innocent.” “Innocence is good. Straight path to Heaven.” Aria replied. “How did you not get laid, Aria? I mean, you’re hot and beautiful even though you deny it.” “You know why. Let’s stop talking about this stuff and eat. Argh!” she said as she put her plate on the coffee table. “What?” Callie asked. “I can’t even eat after what you've said.” Callie chuckled as she ate her food. Her best friend was too innocent. She couldn’t wait for the time when Colin Romano would make a pass at her. What would her best friend do then? She was so sure Colin was going to make a move on her that if it were up to her, she would walk straight to him and ask him what he was waiting for. “Oh my God!” Callie exclaimed. She set her plate on the coffee table and almost jumped over Aria as she made her way to the door. Someone had just walked in and Aria hadn’t seen who because her back was to the door. She turned around sharply as Callie was heading over there. “Mark!” Callie exclaimed as she threw herself at the tall, raven-haired man who had just walked into the room. He was her boyfriend and had been for the past three years. “Whoa,” he exclaimed. “Easy there, Callie. I’m jetlagged,” he added. Callie was beyond ecstatic. She was smiling widely not believing that he had just walked in. “W-what happened? I thought you were going to fly in tomorrow.” “I booked an early flight and figured I’d surprised you, which I clearly did.” He laughed. “You could have called me to pick you up at the airport.” Mark tilted his head to the side pretending to be thinking about it. “And you,” Callie pointed an accusing finger at Aria. “How come you’re not surprised?” Aria dismissed the question. “You knew! And you didn’t tell me?” “Well, if you had shut up for a second about the Romano affair, I would have said something,” Aria defended herself. “Come over here, shortcake,” Mark waved to her. “I’ll have you know I'm the same height as Callie now,” she replied as she made her way to the couple. He pulled her into an embrace. “You’ll always be my shortcake,” Mark said. He ruffled her hair a little bit after the hug. “So how’s London?” Callie immediately asked. “Missed me much?” Mark turned to her and asked. “You ask?” she slapped his chest. “I’m going to bed now, ok guys? Try not to mess up my place before you leave. Callie, you take care of our dishes seeing as how you made me not eat.” Aria spoke before making her way to her bedroom. This was definitely going to be a long night. After hours of tossing and turning in bed, she had finally given up on sleep and just lay awake on her back and stared at the blank dark ceiling. Images of Colin Romano are what kept her up that night. Every time she tried to fall asleep and closed her eyes, all she could see was his face and his body, and the posture he had on the first time she had laid her eyes on him. She was so damned. Not to mention the early morning she had with him the next day.
