The rest of the Christmas break flew past in a blink of an eye and it felt like moments before Wade, Cassidy, Aniyah and I were hugging my mother and father goodbye on the doorstep.
Mum was fussing over my girl, giving Aniyah her mobile number and making her promise to text with updates and to reach out if she had any questions or worries.
‘I am a nurse after all’ she said with a wink, ‘this is kind of my speciality.’
Aniyah nodded, hugging my mother tightly before hurrying toward my car.
‘You take care of her Jameson’ mum muttered under her breath as she hugged me tightly. ‘She may look like she’s tough, but everyone has their moments when they need someone strong to lean on.’
